Objectively speaking: Very sweet and juicy caramelized ale in which the fruit is the dominant feature, albeit not completely stealing the show.
I like: Fair off-white to beige head. Relatively drinkable for a 9% sweet offering. Fair complexity. Interesting soft balancing acidity.
I dislike: Minimal carbonation renders syrupy leanings. Far from thick whereas those flavours would have asked for a more decadent palate. Grenadine syrup impressions - you can’t get much of a freshness feeling out of the fruit. I can only disgress with the previous raters, I did not find the concept all that undesirable, but I’d have hoped for a rich toasted background and more tightness - the global mouth presence is feels very loose to me.

My Bottom Line:
A sumptuous cherry fruitiness amorously attaches itself to the caramel maltiness of this huggable and unique dessert nectar. A polite tartness perfectly segues this harmonious union of juicy fruit and chewy malt, creating a comforting realm between Fruit Beer and Scotch Ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the blood red gown.
-I admit that, before tasting it, the prospect of marrying cherries to a Scotch Ale did not enchant me much; boy, was I proven wrong!
-Dessert-like spiciness (cloves, nutmeg) stems from the cherries and their malty counterpart.
-The level of residual sugars makes for a succulent body, aided by a comfortable carbonation.
-Alcohol is really not a bother in the flavor profile.
-This wonderful creation has more personality than their regular Claymore and may even reach a wider audience. What a novel idea!

On tap at Rendez-Vous Rosemont, Montréal.

(Draught) sampled at Brouehaha in Montreal. Pours a thin, dissipated white head atop copper body. Fruity, nuts and caramel malt. Berries really show. Nice beer.

Sampled on tap at Brouhaha. Pours a cloudy ruby color with a medium, offwhite head. Pleasant aroma of tart cherries and sweet caramel malt. In the mouth, the tart cherries and sweet caramel malt are joined in an almost loving symbiotic relation, the tart, fruity yin to the sweet, lush, malty yang, now that André has joined them, they can’t live without the other. The body is light to medium with a liquorous texture and moderate carbonation. A bold, but interesting experiment.

In short: Sweet beer mixing Scotch Ale caramelized body and plenty of red fruits flavour
How: Tap at BrouHaHa
The look: Clear dark red body with a very small off-white head
In long: Crusty bread with a thick layer of caramel covering sweet red fruits. Despite the beer supposedly being a cherry scotch ales I found the fruity flavour to be red fruits at large (berries, etc.). No cherry sourness detectable. Distant spiciness. Obviously very sweet but the finish is pleasantly moderately dry. Mixing a scotch ale with cherries wasn’t very interesting on paper but judging a beer on paper is a bad idea, it gets all mushy, it’s much better in a glass.
