This was an excellent beer!!! A scotch ale with a touch of cherry. The aroma was quite malty, with some nice caramela, and a touch of cherry in the end. The flavour was a nice sweet, but not over powering caramel malt, with a wicked cherry finish. The cherry lingers, and is just a perfect ending.

Note de cassis et de cerise.

My Bottom Line:
A sumptuous cherry fruitiness amorously attaches itself to the caramel maltiness of this huggable and unique dessert nectar. A polite tartness perfectly segues this harmonious union of juicy fruit and chewy malt, creating a comforting realm between Fruit Beer and Scotch Ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the blood red gown.
-I admit that, before tasting it, the prospect of marrying cherries to a Scotch Ale did not enchant me much; boy, was I proven wrong!
-Dessert-like spiciness (cloves, nutmeg) stems from the cherries and their malty counterpart.
-The level of residual sugars makes for a succulent body, aided by a comfortable carbonation.
-Alcohol is really not a bother in the flavor profile.
-This wonderful creation has more personality than their regular Claymore and may even reach a wider audience. What a novel idea!

On tap at Rendez-Vous Rosemont, Montréal.
