4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Dickinsonbeer (5075) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JUN 6, 2010Tap at Mondial. This and Zeeland were the 2 best saisons of the fest by far. Pours a nice light golden hazed with a fluffy lasting white head and nice coating of lace. Aroma is spicy orange zest, with apricot, mango, peppery spicy phenolics and grass- mostly doughy clean bready malts and very low sweetness- good belgian/french saison yeastiness. Flavor is more pineapple and grapefruit from the hops and yeast, apricot, orange juice, nelson sauvin, gets to be white wine like, some mineral and grass in the end and nicely dry on the end with good tacky bitterness in the end. Nice Hopped up saison.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 mathieuc (322) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 15, 2013
Pours a veiled and light golden. Head retention is not that good and it doesn’t leave too much lacing. Aroma has a bit of sulfur, grains and spices, not that good. Taste is quite dry with a medium amount of bitterness. Citrusy flavors abound with a light black pepper presence. Lightly tart, it is really drinkable. Mouthfeel is fun with a M-H carbonation level. Refreshing and light, good!

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 VincentDamon (155) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 5, 2013
Cheers!
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Metalchopz (1785) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 31, 2013
Visited this brewpub in 2006, and really nice to see where they are heading, with these new bottles, great labels and better products. This one pours a cloudy golden colour (lots of tiny particles floating around) with a huge foamy white head that take its time to go away and leaves soapy lace. Aromas of farm wood, bread dough, bananas and cloves. Medium-bodied, crisp and refreshing. Beautiful flavours of grassy hops, bubblegum, spices and mild citrus notes. Wow ! What a beautiful brew and now I know why it won WBA Best Saison.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 probstblueribbon (2418) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 31, 2013
375 ml bottle from Broue Ha Ha, served cold in a tulip glass.
App.: Cloudy deep yellow with a large, frail white head.
Aroma: Strong peppery/green/grassy notes, spicy, tangy and bright, lots of wet hay, wheat and bread dough, sort of a tropical fruit note, bitter green herbs and a little funk, a bit floral, interesting and well-executed.
Palate: Medium-ish body, loose effervescence, a touch astringent.
Flav.: Strong, zingy pepperiness, green, herbaceous, a little funky, tropical fruits, less of the wheat/bread dough/hay, more biscuity, tighter/drier maltiness, toasty, still a bit floral, nice; dry with decent bitterness (surprising) and a long, peppery, green, Noble hop finish.
Really good.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 VT (872) - Quebec City, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 1, 2013
On tap at La Souche. A nice, hazy golden orange with a thick, resilient white head. Smell is dusty, old, fruity. Flavor is orange, pineapple, mango, pear. Obvious belgian yeast Finish is extremely yeasty, old, dusty, and a nice touch of citrusy bitterness. Body is light. Carbonation might be a bit too aggressive. Pretty good!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Gerbeer (891) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 9, 2012
On tap at GCBF. Pours a yellow brown with light head. Aromas of yeast, bananas, and cloves. Flavors of white pepper, yeast, cloves, and some bubblegum. Typical Dupont style saison flavor though quite dark.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 WheatKing (744) - Oak Bay, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 8, 2012
Sampled at the GCBF. Aroma: Very light tabac, nasal clearing ammoniaesque saison scent, daffodils. Hue: Hazy light amber, light head that remains. Taste: Beautiful mix of tart and sweet. I’m loving saisons more and more, and I’m a pretty average guy in the palate department... could this style be the next IPA? Finish is a bit sweeter than average.
