3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
375ml bottle from the LCBO.
Pours a nearly black brown with a three finger, mocha/tan head that thins itself out moderately quickly.
Aroma is faint with notes of roasted malt, burnt coffee, and very slight, bitter chocolate.
Taste is bitter with a dry, roasted malt, slightly coffee aftertaste.
Medium body and carbonation. Fairly clean in the mouth with a slightly creamy texture. Certainly drinkable.
Overall good but not my thing. I thought I’d give this a try but I enjoy more of the chocolaty/sweet stouts and this just isn’t doing it for me. A bit too bitter without enough other flavours to mix it up. Probably wouldn’t buy again but a good brew if you enjoy the style.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20

Very dark mahogany with a generous long lasting khaki head that laces well. Nose of coffee and grassy hops with chocolate and some light dark candied fruit. Light sweet candy underneath a moderate bitter espresso and chocolate and light licorice. Medium+ creamy mouth with a quite dry finish. Decent and balanced.

Bottle at home. Black with fizzy light brown head. Dark chocolate, fresh roasted coffee beans, dried plums, light peach and herbs. Quite fruity with nice chocolate notes, and very light on the roasted character. Medium sweet and light bitter. Medium bodied with slick feel. Very nice.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Medium, dense cream-beige head over pitch-black beer. Very nice & intriguing nose with stout features, aromatic herbs & flowers, rosewater, straw, immortelles, liquorice, roasted and sweet; Fascinating! Dry, roasted to burnt. Sweet and bitter(ish) chocolate. Roasted grains, black bread. Creamy MF, seemingly well-carbonated, but not very well-bodied, even slightly watery. Pleasing stout.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
600ml bottled 06/2014, date exp.06/2015ish from Mondial de la Bière Mulhouse 2014. - does all it says on the label and promises as an Irish dry stout, with an unmistakeable New World hop freshness: bayleaf-spiked Wiener Nescafe, damp nettle and dried orange rind in aroma, more powdery bitter chocolate in taste, some milk chocolate cream and more bayleaf herbalistics joining hazelnut malts. Great mouthfeel and dryness, quite full for its abv, with few watery pockets. Nevertheless holds it own with genuine IRL Porterhouse Wrasslers Stout.

Tap at Moeder Lambic St Gilles. Surprisingly light. Cola element. Maybe a little fruity, bit spritzy. Light roast, little choc. Seems more carbonated than i would have expected,
