Notes of dark chocolate and espresso, with a hint of vanilla. Amazingly complex aroma. Slightly sweet. Pitch-black in the glass with a medium brown head. Pleasant bitterness. One of the best canadian beers I tried.

On tap at brewpub. Very dark, black ale with reddish reflects. Nice, thick beige head with good retention leaves a nice lacing on the glass. Smells of moke coffee, tastes of creamy, sweet cofee. Bitter, yet sweet moka finish. Leaves some bitterness in the mouth. Feels very thick and creamy, quite enjoyable!

Bottle from Mane Liquor. This would have to be one of the best examples of this style I have ever had. Incredible depth and balance. Loads of milk chocolate, mild coffee, earthy and slightly ashy but that burnt characteristic follows through to the bitter finish. A treat to drink

UPDATED: SEP 13, 2010 Tap at Mascouche’s Oktoberfest. Divine texture, good chocolate-roasted-coffee maltiness but the hopping is somewhat pretty discreet. Still, respectable. 7-4-6-4-15 ADDED: On tap at Saint-Bock. Wo! What happened here? Change of recipe, freshness, my new affection for this brewer working subconsciously in my mind? The pint I had was simply amazing, with a lot of depth, and with a lot of torrefied malt, velvety chocolate notes, a surprisingly smooth texture and an all and all great balance. Making its way in Québec’s top 5 stouts, easily...

Noire profonde, jolie mousse persistante.

Pours a very dark blackish brown with a large light brown rocky head leaving lots of lace up the glass. Aroma is roasted malts, coffee notes, mild sweetness and cocoa. Flavour is coffee, roasted malts(adds to the bitterness) mild-med bitterness from hops and grain, moderate sweetness, cocoa and a nice dry finish. Excellent dry stout, definitely would recommend!
