Brewed in collaboration with Yvan De Baets of Brasserie de la Senne. This hazy blonde beer is brewed with rye and Nelson Sauvin hops. The aroma is quite floral and the flavor arrives in three stages: the first is reminiscent of rye bread, followed by an evolving fruity and herbal note, and ending with a long-lasting finish that encourages you to dive right back in. The name comes in part from a Belgian insult, “schieven architek”, used by the people of the Marolles district of Brussels to criticize architect Joseph Poellart who built the enormous Palais de Justice which they felt ruined the neighborhood. The second part comes from a common Quebecois swear word

The Trou du Diable Version is in 500ml bottles only (and on tap)!

Corps moyen carbonation moyenne a haute. Comme certaine autre personne je trouve que cette bière est plutot ordinaire. Une bière au style belge avec quelques défaut... Voila...

Cloudy blonde topped by an elegant white head. Not powerful, but balanced and captivating nose subtly playing on hoppy and yeasty fronts with its gentle fruity esters, herbaceous, spicy hops and peppery phenols. A touch of citric acid sounds the lemon gong I adore in mouth, yet it’s not the tartness nor the bitterness that really shine here, it is the sheer dryness. Attenuation is through the roof and brings the drinkability to another level. The 500 ml bottle simply feel too small. Meanwhile, the medium-sized bubbles are active on the tongue and combine with the hops and water profile to provide a minarally crispiness, the finish feeling salty and peppery atop the bready, cerealic yet very lean malt base. Great stuff, brilliantly targetting the audience interested in full-flavoured beer that are not necesasrily double-digit in alcohol or triple-digit in IBU figures.

Pours a hazy yellow with a thin white head that leaves some lacing. Nose is spicy and features coriander quite prominently. There is also some light sulfur and some pretty tame fruits. Taste is quite bitter and dry, provides more spices (think pepper this time). Some fresh cereals can be sensed through all the spicy noise. Finish is long and spicy, clashing a little with the otherwise pretty soft base. Body is light, mouthfeel not really smooth even if I feel it’s basically a heavily tweaked witbier. Carbonation is medium-high. Not bad at all but I feel like the balance could be better.

July 29, 2012 - Toronto Festival Of Beers - draught at the Keep Six tent. Yellow with an average to small fizzy white head. Smells like wheat/gluten, some alcohol, and lemon - simple. Taste is much better - fresh grain, lemon, general low-level funk. Average body, slightly acidic, weakly carbonated, finishes quick and dry and you can start to feel the alcohol a bit - solid though.

Tap at Volo - Very pale golden colour. The nose is awesome. Lean and spicy with a noble hop character and a faint whiff of sulfur in addition to some lightly fruity hoppiness. Moderate/assertive bitterness and a little bit of lingering noble hoppiness. Minerally bitterness and a very lean palate. This is beer I could drink all day long. Lovely.

Tap at Toronto Fest of Beer. Pale straw colour with a bit of bright citrus. Nice clean zesty yeast character. Spicy cologne and a bit of light pepper. Fresh and wheaty with some light hoppiness. Fresh and tasty.
