2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
500ml bottle from Co-Op somewhere near Swadlincote. Didn’t get much in the way of zesty, spicy, grapefruit flavours here. What little I did get focused on a malty, chewy bitterness and grains. In all, nothing spectacular.

Almost no aroma. Taste is soft malt. At the end (aftertaste too) is strong biterness. High carbonation.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pale gold with a white foam. Aromas are biscuit with lemon and lime rind and minerals. Yeasty with low grapefruit and grassy notes. Flavours are dry biscuit with pithy grassiness. Bitter lemon rind with a mineral and slight soap character. Better than I expected.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle at home on 30 June 2013. Purchased Co-Op in Oakham, Rutland.
Very pale appearance. Kinda looks like a pale lager, rather than a golden ale. Cut grass aroma and immediate astringent hop taste followed by not very much.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
16th June 2012: hand pulled half-pint in the excellent ‘Crown’, Beeston.
Almost lager looking beer: pale gold with a fading head of thin white bubbles on top. The aromas were of a citrus nature with some freshly cut grass in the mix too. Hoppy citrus flavours also ruled the taste with very little maltiness coming through: enjoyed my CAD better and glad I only bothered with a half of this!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Cloudy golden beer with a strong head. The aroma is hopped and grassy, and the flavour is very bitter, yeasty and hopped. Overall a reasonable golden ale.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUN 16, 2011 1) Cask handpull, The Crown Inn, Beeston, Notts, 20/05/11. Pale yellow with a loose, subsiding white top. Solid citrussy snout; lemongrass, Fairy Liquid, rub of green, light minerals. Raspy bitterness softened faintly with vanilla, galangal and lemon zest-like notes. Punchy grapefruit finish. Pretty decent all round.
2) Bottle Octo got me from Atherstone Co-op. Pale and milky with bits, if you wish. Fairy Liquid aroma. Good zesty lime, Darjeeling and rich tea balance. Slightly sharp, lemony. Wheat? Better than the cask. Lemon sherbet afters. Scored it exactly the same as the cask: 737314.

Bottle. Another decent bottled beer from this brewery. Golden with low carbonation with hops dominating. Not a lot of complexity but what you get is a straightforward pleasant hoppy bitter. Nice.
