3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sample bottle. Didn’t really come across as an APA. Probably not overly fresh as it was quite malty and had a sweetness to it which reminds of English pales. Although it had quite an astringent bitterness to finish. Average

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
At just on cool and into a pint glass it goes. Cloudy, sandy yellow with a sloppy dollop of cream atop. Head just holds but it weaves a lengthy lace. Mix-bag aroma of hay-bales, citrus peel, tree sap and pine, a little sweaty sock, fresh baked bread and pear drops. Pasty mouthfeel with a fresh, bitter and tight, under-ripe citrus backbone. Grainy, gritty, haybale front with a little more of that fresh baked bread of the nose coming through. Hops and esters play well in the back reminiscent of dragonfruit, lychee and pear with licks of rose water, grapefruit, pine and dusty herbs. Edging sour and tangy before a pleasant bitter drop off. This is actually a great quaffer. I couldn’t put it down. Though rough around the edges it is deadly sessionable. Good stuff!!! (50cL, BBE 09/16, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)

Bottle, 5.9%, 10C. Hazy gold with a thick white head. Aroma of hay, lemons, peaches, some gooseberry, a bit herbal and earthy. Soft creamy texture, fairly light bodied, lowish carbonation. Sweet honeyed hay, lemon and grapefruit, firm bitter and dry finish with some herbs. Refreshing and a nice mix of old and new.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear golden yellow with white lacing, lasting foam head. Aroma is truly barley. So is taste, but with a nice bitter touch. So aftertaste, mixture between barley and bitterness, some sweet tones. (Barnsley 201404)

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask handpull, The Pub, Leicester. Pale and dusted with a persistent white foam. Easily one of best brews of the day; shaved lemon, hint of sulphur, stewed tea, hint of green. Some clean, ringing Chardonnay notes. Clean, hopped-up, malty. Really floats my boat.
