Formerly known as Blind Pig Dunkel Weizen

This is a medium-bodied, unfiltered dark wheat beer with a smooth, gently sweet character. The flavor has notes of chocolate and caramel combined with the cereal malt flavor contributed by malted wheat. Blind Pig is a very unique beer with few other examples of the German Dunkel Weizen style brewed in the Northwest, and certainly none as tasty.

Brown ale-ish. Hazey brown, like apple cider. Bready and a bit like a brown ale.

An unbelievable style of beer, it is roasty and wheaty at the same time. It is filtered and dark brown in color. Taste is full of wheat and a hint of roasted malt

Pours dark brown with a small creamy beige head. Aroma of toasted malts. Rich taste of lots of malt again and a hint of berry. Very good and easy to drink.

12 oz bottle. Dark mahogany brown with a thick, sticky beige head. Mild aroma of dark wheat bread, caramel, and some spicy yeast. Smooth malty flavor, lots of dark bread and light caramel, very light hop bitterness and a light tartness at the end. Medium body with soft carbonation and a creamy mouth feel. Very nice Dunkel Weizen, smooth malty and easy drinking.

Bottle. I’ve had a few of these now, so it’s time to rate. Pours a hazy deep amber brown with a dense vanilla crown. Rich cocoa aroma, caramelized banana. Sweet caramel, chocolate, banana, hazelnut flavours. Medium bodied, nice flavours. Tasty.

2010-06-29. Crisp brown body with a small beige head and lace. 3+ Flavour starts with a sharp bitterness that fades quickly, toasty malt in the base, tangy, lightly roasty/toasty malt finish. Mild toasty malt aroma. Average plus bodied palate. 3+ Okay, but where is the weizen? On tap at Fishbowl pub, Olympia

[3028-20100629] Tap. Toasted grainy malt aroma. Clear, dark amber body with a medium-lasting foamy light tan head. Richly toasted bread crust malt flavour. Medium-full body. Interesting, good.

Nice hazy brown coloured body with a muddy look and perhaps a touch of a crimson glow. Aroma of rich malt with a good brown sugar and a touch of raisins and a bit of nuts. Medium-bodied; Nice mellow malty flavour with raisins, nuts and a lot of sweetness and not much body to the mix. Aftertaste shows just fruits and raisins, nothing else. Overall, a decent beer - but perhaps a bit too light and not malty enough for the style. Good to try, but glad I drank it here without carrying it across the whole of North America. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased earlier today from La Bodega in Anchorage, Alaska on 26-June-2010.

Bottle. Pours hazy toffee-brown, with a medium pale tan head, nice lacing. Nose is pudding, chocolate, bananas, caramel, fruit, berries, and a nice bright hoppiness. Flavor is medium-sweet, with notes of cocoa, banana, red fruits, toffee, nuts, nice mild wheat character, and a mild phenolic spiciness. Well rounded and tasty. Win.
