COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly known as Blind Pig Dunkel Weizen

This is a medium-bodied, unfiltered dark wheat beer with a smooth, gently sweet character. The flavor has notes of chocolate and caramel combined with the cereal malt flavor contributed by malted wheat. Blind Pig is a very unique beer with few other examples of the German Dunkel Weizen style brewed in the Northwest, and certainly none as tasty.

I do not feel that this beer meets the styles. Also had some tasting defects like a papery taste.

12 ounce bottle into weizen glass, no bottle dating. Pours hazy reddish brown color with a nice 1-2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some nice soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of ripe banana, caramel, biscuit, nuttiness, chocolate, molasses, toast, clove, roasted malt, earth, and light yeast spiciness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance. Taste of chocolate, banana, toast, caramel, biscuit, nuttiness, roasted malt, toffee, pepper, earth, and light yeast spiciness. Lingering notes of chocolate, caramel, roasted malt, banana, toast, nuttiness, and clove on the finish for a bit. Nice balance of flavors with decent complexity; though it does feel a bit on the watery side; no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a nice and interesting take on a dunkelweizen. Nice roasted flavors with decent balance of fruitiness; very smooth and easy to drink. Definitely enjoyed this.

Sample at Saddle Rock in Wenatchee, WA. Dark murky reddish-brown color with a medium thick light beige head that recedes slowly. Patchy lacing. Aroma of malt, caramel and wheat. Light-bodied with a toasted malt character and notes of caramel, wheat and yeast. The finish is sweet with a wheaty, malty aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Pours deep brown with a frothy tan head. Scent is malt, almost smoky chocolate... Taste is banana/chocolate......malty. The banana is an interesting little addition, though it add to an already heavy sweetness. Average, with a little bit of difference... Not bad.

Bottle. Very light chocolate malt and molasses aroma. Chestnut with a small tan head. Toasty malt flavor with a light bitter finish. Medium body, light carbonation.

Draft. Poured a deep brown with a smallish tan head (which might have been because I suspect the beer took a while to get to our table from the bar). Aroma and flavor were dark malt, slightly toasty, a good bit of chocolate, some coffee and honey notes. Muted wheat character; some very light banana. Moderately sweet, tempered by some mild bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel.

Nice enough, maybe not too spot on to style. Dark fruits, dark roast malt. Not much of the expected wheatiness.

Deep brown color. Aroma of candi sugar and a touch of molasses. Some plum and prune. Not a bad aroma. Flavor comes through a little less enthusiastically however. A bit thin but still some caramel malt and a bit of spice on the back end of the palate. A little bit of cocoa texture. Finish stays with you for a while.
