Bottle from Liquid Solutions. Pours very dark amber with not much of a head. Smells bready. Near medium body with mild, frothy carbonation. Flavor is kind of chocolate over darkly roasted malt - not burnt though. Hasn’t got much malt sweetness. Clean. Finishes with chocolate.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 hopscotch (8212) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JAN 16, 2012
Bottle… Pours mostly clear and brown with a small, creamy, off-white head. Fantastic retention. The bouquet is biscuity and nutty with undertones of caramel and chocolate – this all adds up to a French toast-like quality. Medium-bodied with a buttery mouthfeel and tingly carbonation. The flavor is malty and rich. Not overly sweet. Toasty, caramely and lightly chocolaty. Finishes malty and hearty with a kiss of toffee. Doesn’t really resemble a dunkelweizen. Probably why I like it so much.
