Formerly known as Blind Pig Dunkel Weizen

This is a medium-bodied, unfiltered dark wheat beer with a smooth, gently sweet character. The flavor has notes of chocolate and caramel combined with the cereal malt flavor contributed by malted wheat. Blind Pig is a very unique beer with few other examples of the German Dunkel Weizen style brewed in the Northwest, and certainly none as tasty.

12 oz can into a sampler glass, dark brown with short tan head. Hint of malt in the aroma, light body, little in the way of carbonation. Chocolate and toasted malt flavor, not much banana or clove noted. Mild malt finish with slight bitterness. Now I want to try a beer actually faithful to this style and compare.

12oz bottle (courtesy of Headbanger) poured into a Weizen Glass at 39°. Color is a deep dark brown with mellow carbonation and a small off white head. Aroma is roasted malt with a hint of smoke. Body is a lighter medium with a smooth mouth feel. Flavor is roasted malt, a hint of dark chocolate and a little hop spice. After taste is clean with some bitterness coming in. Overall it’s a nice flavorful brew.

Can. Malty smellin dark beer. Taste is dark weizen. Perhaps a little more beefy than a mild dark weizen. Does not hide the alky well. As session continues there is some dark choco in there, just a little. Goes a little metallic on the finish. All this around room temperature. Went all the way to NC to find this beer, heheh.

Mild aroma of bark berries. Slightly thin mouthfeel. Flavor was ok but not rich or dark like I expect in a good dunkel. Eh there are much better ones out there.

Drank from a twelve ounce can purchased from Wegmans. Has a slightly malt aroma the rest smells watered down.

I thought this was a porter. But it's not according to the can. It's a dark wheat ale. It reminds me of kona brewing co. Pipeline porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Lots of chocolate malt. Some weizen qualities. Served with a fine thick creamy head & a little lace. Doesn’t resemble a traditional Dunkelweizen too much.

Bottle to shaker glass. Pours deep reddish black, fast vanishing head, no lace, no retention. Aroma of dark chocolate. Taste is mainly sweet with a nice bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, silky mouth feel. Finishes malty sweet. Tasting notes of banana, chocolate, smoked wheat malt, caramel, dates and coffee. This is my first dunkel, mainly because I don’t care for wheat beers but this is a surprise! I actually like this beer!
