COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly known as Blind Pig Dunkel Weizen

This is a medium-bodied, unfiltered dark wheat beer with a smooth, gently sweet character. The flavor has notes of chocolate and caramel combined with the cereal malt flavor contributed by malted wheat. Blind Pig is a very unique beer with few other examples of the German Dunkel Weizen style brewed in the Northwest, and certainly none as tasty.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a weizen glass. Pours opaque dark brown with medium brown highlights with small beige head. Aroma is chocolate, medium body, medium carbonation, and some medium bubble lacing. Taste is chocolate and herbal hops. Hop forward for a dunkleweizen, not my thing.

Draft pour. Pours dark with a nice nutty, malty aroma. A little caramel flavor. Sweet malt finish. Pretty good beer.

I did not care for this. Not my style of beer. Very toasty tasting. Nice color for the beer

A nice dunkelweizen. Goes from malty sweetness with nut-like aromas to a mild citric ending. Refreshing and highly drinkable.

pleasant smooth malty brew with a bit of sweetness and a hint of butterscotch to balance that smoothness.

Slightly roasty malt with caramel and toast, perhaps a hint of coffee. A dark long finish with a bit of char. Hops are very light.

Bottle from Ashur Liquor: Created a tiny sizing of film for a head while the liquid was a dark glowing tea hue that was full of sediment that made it impossible to see through my pint glass. In the nose, there isn’t much going on other than a minimum amount of caramel malt while at the same time not even smelling like a beer. The flavor is boring and bland with no flavors at all worth mentioning but at least it was still drinkable.

Bottled 11/2010 Poured to NB globe. A: Pours a chocolate beer with little head development. Thin film of tiny bubbles, which are light graham in color. S: Chocolate malts, dark grains. Hollow grainy. Little/no hop nose. Slightly creamy scent. T: Yum! I was surprised by the nice toastiness of this beer. I admittedly had low expectations, which likely fosters my admiration, but this beer is nice. Light cocoa, malts, milky flavor. Touch of a metallic finish on this. As I take more his off this, I like it less. Has a bit of a burnt flavor as it warms. Almost a sour flavor in here. M: Decent medium body with medium/low carbonation provides a effervescence I didn’t anticipate. Nice. D: Very drinkable. Again, I was surprised by this beer, and would be happy to recommend to others. Serving type: bottle 02-15-2011
