COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Northwest style Hefeweizen is light-bodied, pale amber in color, fruity and refreshing, with a malty wheat character. The flavor is light and crisp with a touch of malt sweetness. Whistling Pig Wheat is unfiltered, with the classic cloudy appearance which characterizes the best Hefeweizens brewed in the Great Pacific Northwest. Whistle Pigs are marmots, small furry critters who live in the high country all around Leavenworth, WA, with especially high concentrations in nearby Whistling Pig Meadow.

Golden-amber colour. Thick head even a lemon can’t kill. Ha ha! Screw you, lemon. Dry. Lightly toasty and husky...not much fruitiness if any. Very slight wheat character. Surprisingly dull given the original German inspiration behind this beer. Competent but boring.

Aroma of pale malt and citrus. Hazed orange color, doesn’t appear to be a wheat ale. Flavor of lemon and spice, fairly malty as well. Almost more like an American pale ale. Lighter body, lacking in effervescence.

Bottle. Hazy golden orange. Almost no head. The aroma is sweet and vaguely citric. This drinks with a lot more sweetness than traditional hefeweizens, and with nary a hint of any yeast either. That said, it’s clean and easy to drink. (#4577, 4/29/2012)

Pours a cloudy golden color. Smell is very mild, some wheat. Taste is also mild, some wheat and lemon. Overall not bad, but a little subdued for the style.

12oz bottle: pours a clear pale golden with a thin-lacing white head. Has a semi-sweet slightly grainy nose with some sharp noble hoppy notes. Starts with average fullness and mild wheaty sweetness with a touch of oxidation and grassy hop flavor before a drier herbal bitter finish. Doesn’t have any of the Bavarian yeasty character I enjoy in hefeweizens.

Clouded deep yellow color with a small white head.Nose is clove, wheat and citrus. The taste is deseptive a little richer than most hefeweizen’s. Pretty good overall and worth shot. This one will do well in the summer months.

Bottle, this Hefe had a hazy orange pour, it looked like a cream sickle orange, and made a two finger faint off-white head, this beer was too hazy to see through but I did see bubbles flowing up the sides of the glass, and it left spots and long fingers of lacing on the sides of the glass, the aromas were faint lemon like citrus with wheat, faint banana and peach fruit, a little grain and grain sweetness, there were flavors of wheat, faint banana, bread and grain, flavors were on the bland side, it had a mouth feel that was a little less than medium, a so-so Hefe drinker.
