COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Northwest style Hefeweizen is light-bodied, pale amber in color, fruity and refreshing, with a malty wheat character. The flavor is light and crisp with a touch of malt sweetness. Whistling Pig Wheat is unfiltered, with the classic cloudy appearance which characterizes the best Hefeweizens brewed in the Great Pacific Northwest. Whistle Pigs are marmots, small furry critters who live in the high country all around Leavenworth, WA, with especially high concentrations in nearby Whistling Pig Meadow.

This is the strangest Hefewiesen I have ever had. Perhaps itís the alpine-style designation. It had quite a bite to it and was rather spicy with a hoppy finish. Missing was the creamy texture and subtly sweet aromas of banana and clove. Is this beer 1/3 pale ale? Not a bad combination. Refreshing and tasty. It had the cloudiness of a hefe with a small amount of residue in the bottom of the bottle. The head was small for a hefe. Plenty of lacing and retention. A surprising beer. I will buy it again now that I know what to expect. This beer does not fit neatly into any category.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow gold body with a one finger frothy white head. The nose is showing some light banana and clove spiciness with a soft wheat and yeast undertone. The flavor is a little less estery and spicy than I prefer for the style, itís much heavier on the malt and wheat flavors instead of being derived from the yeast. Itís a little heavy and clingy. Medium bodied with soft fizzy carbonation and a slightly sticky finish. Not a great Hefe, a little too heavy and flabby

Not a great example of a german hefe. the citrus and malt kinda overpower the yeast, which does show itself as a banana-like aroma and flavor. body is overcarbonated as well. meh...

12oz bottle 1/20/15 (Courtesy of TerryR)-46į in Weizen Glass-Pours a murky yellowish orange with a small white head. Aroma of wheat, citrus, and slight banana. Taste of wheat, metallic, citrus, banana, and slight coriander. This light to medium bodied brew is not bad as there are better out there but this fills the gap.

Draught at the brewpub in Everett
Cloudy blond color with generous head; unfortunately served with a lemon wedge. Simple wheat beer, without the character of a Hefeweizen, light fruity esters, and correct bitterness.
Easy but not bad.

Pours a milky/hazy copper colored yellow, typical of Hefeweizen. Giant bright white head. Very little aroma. Slight lemon and anise. Quite aqueous. Weak beer. Great beer for non beer lovers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a weizen glass. Pours hazy golden with off-white head. Aroma is grainy wheat, medium body, medium carbonation, and medium lacing. Taste is grainy malt, some crisp hops, bready, and some banana. Below average as far as hefes for me.

On tap at Anthonyís. Cloudy pale yellow pour with a white head. Lemon and yeast aromas. Mild lemon, citrus, and bready notes. Good body and mouthfeel. Not bad at all for a hefe. Creamy and smooth.

penstemon (199) - Nevada, USA - MAY 25, 2014
Pours slightly hazy gold with a white head. Aroma is grain, wheat, musty, lemon and overripe orange, a hint of band-aid phenols, slight banana, metallic. Taste is wheat, slightly toasted grains, muted orangey citrus, a bit of banana/clove, and slight hop bitterness. Thin-med palate, soft carbonation. Very light on the typical phenolic hef flavors. Not great.

Gold color. Corn like aroma. Light white lacing. Sips with slight adjunct flavors or corn, slight malt sweetness and flavors of fruit. This is not a brew I would recommend. Tastes mass produced and forced. Flavors of poor ingredients. Sessionable, but undesirable.
