Commercial Description:
This Northwest style Hefeweizen is light-bodied, pale amber in color, fruity and refreshing, with a malty wheat character. The flavor is light and crisp with a touch of malt sweetness. Whistling Pig Wheat is unfiltered, with the classic cloudy appearance which characterizes the best Hefeweizens brewed in the Great Pacific Northwest. Whistle Pigs are marmots, small furry critters who live in the high country all around Leavenworth, WA, with especially high concentrations in nearby Whistling Pig Meadow.

Golden-amber colour. Thick head even a lemon can’t kill. Ha ha! Screw you, lemon. Dry. Lightly toasty and husky...not much fruitiness if any. Very slight wheat character. Surprisingly dull given the original German inspiration behind this beer. Competent but boring.

(draft) Cloudy amber body with off-white head. Aroma is mild sweet, wheat, lemon, some clove, light banana. Taste is mild sweet, wheat, light banana. Light-medium body. Not strong flavor, but very nice drinkable beer nonetheless.

On-Tap at the River Rock Alehouse in Eagle, ID
Hazy bright copper orange color with some light head & minimal lacing. The aroma is very citrusy and tart with some light wheat and bright grapefruity hops. The flavor is moderately hoppy, very up front with some starchy wheat tanging up the finish. Lots of citrus & clean balanced tail notes. Way too hoppy for the style but I liked it and I can rate it however I want!

on tap-pours a thin white head and cloudy yellow color. Aroma is mild medium malt/grain, some medium fruit. Taste is musty medium malt/grain, some medium fruit-sweet, then slight spice hops bite. OK/mild carbonation. Cross of American wheat and hefe.

(Draught) Sampled at Taphouse in Seattle. A rather expensive sampler at $9.95 for four 4-ounce samples. Cloudy gold. Nose is wheaty and tonic. Metallic flavour. Average at best.
