damienv10 (101), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 8, 2008 Opaque orange with a thick, rich, white foamy head. Fresh orange, mint, lavender, cinnamon, ginger, and sweet apple make up the subtle but complex nose. Lively carbonation makes the beer crisp without stinging you. This is light for a biere de garde. If it was a little less hoppy I would swear it’s a saison. Dry malt flavors with a hint of fruit, a bit of sourness, some spice, and a small punch of hops make of the flavor profile. More intense nose than palate. This isn’t a bad beer, it’s not quite up to the challenge for beers of it’s style.
scrizzz (537), kirkland, Washington, USA Dec 4, 2008 I swear this smells like typical euro lager and a hint of coriander. hazy gold and yellow. sustained white head. cap came off with a -whiff- followed closely by a gush of beer. muted around, even when warmed. metallic finish. bhensonb (3138), Woodland, California, USA Oct 28, 2008 Bottle from Ledgers in Berkeley, CA. BB 30/04/10. Hazy orangey color with a fizzy white head that didn’t stick. Aromas of citrus, taffy, funk and likely lots of other stuff. Near medium body with fizzy/frothy carbonation. Flavor is earthy, mildly funky, with a little citrus. It seems quite well balanced. Spices or herbs do strange things to my mouth. Maybe there are real flowers involved. I really like this stuff. Hey, it’s a biere de garde. Got to love it. hotstuff (3055), Indiana, USA Jul 31, 2008 Bottle with a best consumed before 10/07/09 date. Large semi-frothy white head that mostly diminished, good lacing, semi-transparent, semi-hazy, slow rising carbonation, and a yellow golden hue. The aroma was yeasty, sweet, some wheat, spicy, and fruity. The flavor was sweet, fruity, mildly spicy, yeasty, and a little funky tasting. The mouthfeel was watery and thin Light bodied beer. Quaffable, easy to drink, just an okay beer for me as I could not get into the taste of it so it left me not wanting this one again. ABUSEDGOAT (1924), California, USA Apr 17, 2008 Hazy orange, moderate head with good lacing and retention. Aroma is yeast, spice, somewhat fruity, grass, funk. Medium bodied, fairly dry. Fairly interesting, quite enjoyable.
