UPDATED: JUN 16, 2008 500 ml bottle from Walt’s grocery, Homewood, IL. BB: 11.22.08. I have some hope for Polish beers, being as Chicago has the world’s second most Poles after Warsaw, or something like that. The hope is that mainly enough Polish import gets sold that what I find is reasonably fresh. But this one was in a green bomber bottle under florescent lights. SKUNKED!!! My wife thought another skunk has burrowing under our porch. It pours just fine, though, a pale yellow with some depth under a fluffy white that respectably fades down. Taste shows a little malt and some dry finish with sharp hop bitterness (a "dryness" I associate with Polish lager, right or not). But also something of burnt rubber. It’s all stuff I’ve run into before, but not in this unappealing a combination. And interesting how the labeling tries to look very much like "Beck’s"

Aroma=Sort of fruity (apricot), noble hops with pleasant base malt. Appearance=Crystal clear, dark yellow gold with no top/small ring of white bubbles. Flavour=Relatively weak base malt flavour, weakly hopped, yet prominent bitterness in light of such weak malt flavour. Mouthfeel=Light body, medium carbonation, lasting not so pleasant bitterness.
