(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 18 Apr 2009) Pale amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of orange peel, biscuity malts and earthy hops. Malty, nutty taste with dried fruit, apricots, orange and generous doses of earthy hops in the finish. Medium body, good balance. Nice and well made bitter.

UPDATED: FEB 1, 2009 Cask at the Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Bucks, 09-01-08. Pours mid amber with a white head. Good hoppy nose, tasty with a good fruity tang. There is a lovely raspy bitterness that you only seem to get with a British bitter. Really nice beer, I’m surprised at the lowish ratings. A7 A4 F7 P3 OV15 3.6

Cask conditioned at The Royal Blenheim, Oxford. Amber with white head. Quite thin and tinny in character initially with a vanilla backnote. Some caramel with notes of diacetyl, butterscotch. Dry hop in the finish, not the best from this brewery.

A Sim rate (cask at the Market no-Porter): Putty, rubber and a bit of lemon in the aroma. Pretty bland really. The flavour’s almost unpleasant. Sweet, but more like store brand Angel Delight than the real thing. Bitter, like lemon squash without the water. If this is Leeds’ best, then god help them!

Cask in Blackfriars. Aroma is buttery, sweet pale malts, fruity character off the yeast. Taste is similar diacetyl is defo in here but the sweetness and small citrus and earthy notes help it along.

Cask gravity at Planet Thanet BF 08. Copper, off white head. Slightly yeasty buttery aroma. Buttery bitter, not my favourite. Some earthy hop on end. Possible diacetyl.

Aug 07 Cask conditioned @ Brigantes, York. Some caramel with mild maltiness and dusty hops. Fairly traditional but with more bitterness than might normally be expected.

Cask at Peterborough Beer Fest. Deep golden. Salty grainy nose. Fruity and medium sweet with rounded mouthfeel. Pleasant biscuity malt flavour followed by a salty finish with good bitterness. A solid bitter.
