2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Pours a light gold with a nice thick white top. Malty initial nose, which opens way to blackcurrant fruitiness. In the mouth, it’s quite tart with a lemony bitter edge. Finish has bite and dryness but it fades away leaving a spicy bubbly nastiness up the nose. Bit disappointing.

Cask conditioned at The Crown, Oxford. Straw gold with no head. Tart, cidery flavour from the off, some citrus fruitiness but mostly the tartness. Pretty poor.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap @ the Haymarket Bar, Edinburgh. Pours golden with a nice head and just a little haze. The nose is citrus, lemon mostly with just a little of the malt coming through as a hay note. The taste has more of the same as well as a meadow flowers note. The palate is medium bodied and textured with a a clean zingy finish. Good pale ale.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled version, from Sainsburys Grimsby. Gold, fluffy moderately lasting white head and gentle condition. Initially citrus fruity in the nose with hints of grapefruit mellowing to reveal sweet malt and an earthy hoppiness, more citrus hop in the mouth with a dominant dry bitterness and a low resinous pine note, lingering dry chalky bitterness in the finish.

[330ml bottle, EBBC 2012] Re-branded as a ’serve cold from bottle’ beer to pitch to clubs for drinkers – which is a good idea, although the new label makes it look like a ginger beer. It’s a decent bitter – earthy, deep malt and some rising bitterness. Maybe a little fruit in there as well

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle in Malmaison Leeds. Looked like a lager, pale yellow gold with a white head. Taste was a hint of malt with a pleasant fruity hop finish. It was like a decent ale version of a lager, nice and drinkable but little more.
