Cask, Seasonal, Summer;
A classic IPA. Befitting the tradition, a larger hop charge than any other recipe gives a pleasant hoppiness not often found in beers of this strength.

Keg at the brewery tap Leeds. Pours clear gold with a short-lived thin ring of white head. Aromas of mango, tropical fruit. Taste is light sweet, lots of tropical fruit. Some resin, sweaty socks. Crisp, mineral finish.

Session style ipa, bit of a mix between US and uk styles, but not especially memorable

Cask Kings Head Carlisle. Great looking pale amber colour, citrus and biscuit aroma, fresh prickly tangy palate. A little marmalade comes in midway, more orange notes and a nice smack of bitterness in the finish. Great stuff.

Cask conditioned at The Chequers, Oxford. Hazy gold with white head. Quite a perfumed flavour, fruity, there is a grapefruit hint but along with a slightly sicky note. It was ok but not the hop monster I was hoping for.

Cask@thebell, Walsall. Amber beer, large creamy head. Looks good. Aroma of mild grapefruit. Taste is medium strength hoppiness and a few floral notes. Smooth on the palate, a nice beer,

Hand pulled at Old Thameside Inn, Borough. Headless auburn ale. Watered down toffee. Fine with a meal but unremarkable.

Hand pulled at the Old Contemptibles, Birmingham. Cloudy amber, thick heading. Smells like toffee - uh oh. Tastes like a standard, mediocre, toffee malt bitter. Particularly sweet on the finish. Some rainwater in subsequent swigs, which is a small mercy. Massive disappointment. Why is this included in an IPA festival?
