Bottle conditioned. The beers name very effectively describes its deep coluor on pouring. Despite being 3 months beyond its best before end date it was lively with a good head.Dark, almost burnt. malt taste with some sweetness and little bitterness. A most acceptable ale.

Bottle. Dark brown and poured very flat. Smokey but a bit thin. Better bottled than a lot of their beers I have tried in the past. All round nicer than I had expected.

Lovely Dark red colour, malty biscuity nose, and a rich dark malt flavour, with slightly bitter finish

Bottle. Very dark brown with a large reddish/brown head. Visibly highly carbonated. Roasted malty and caramel aroma with a hint of sourness. Same for the taste, although the sourness is more marked. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, bitter finish. Pretty nice.
