Fin (2454), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Apr 8, 2008 Bottle that dad bought along this week having purchased from a bottle shop in Belper, 08-04-08 Exploded out of the bottle in quite impressive fashion. Once it settled it was medium gold with a haziness to it. This tastes like a decent IPA and nothing like a wheat, whatever it is very good and really surprised me for a Leek beer which are often quite hit and miss. Good hoppy bite to this and lingering bitterness, maybe there is some spice on the nose but its subtle. Its a damn good beer, very tasty and I will search out for it again DJMonarch (4091), Northwich, Cheshire, England Feb 9, 2006 Cask Stillage at Wilkie’s Tavern, Warrington 30/11/2003
Golden coloured hoppy and creamy on the palate. Fruit flavours. Slightly bitter lasting finish. JonMoore (1551), Loughborough, Leicestershire, England Jan 26, 2005 Despite careful pouring ended up with a cloudy pint. Orange colour with a lasting off-white head, and good lacing. Aroma is spicey, orange, and wheat. Refreshing wheaty taste, with a nice acidic touch and a lively mouthfeel. The alcohol is not particularly apparent. A good wheatbeer. johndoughty (1692), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England Nov 6, 2004 This brewery can be very inconsistent with its bottled beers but this one is superb. The wheat taste is pleasant without being overpowering and encourages to drink more of this lovely beer. At last Leek Brewery have got it right and whats more produced a British
wheat beer to be proud off. SilkTork (3950), Rochester, Kent, England Jul 12, 2004 Bottle Conditioned. BBE Nov 04. Orange gold colour with a wheat enhanced head which soon settles. Some spicy wheat notes and an orange sweetness. Earthy hops in the finish. Quite fragrant and pleasant, but hasn’t quite lifted me off my seat. The interplay between the lighter more floral and citric notes and the later heavier, more typically British hops is not to my taste. I’m drinking one beer which is light and pleasant and quite girly, but I’m finishing with something more dirty and honest and male. The abv is not immediately apparant, but eventual starts to go to the head. Interesting, and some may like this more than I did. Best served a little cold.
