JarredWFM (3), Detroit, Michigan, USA does not count Oct 14, 2009 At first i didn’t understand this beer, but it has grown to be my all-time favorite. Some bottles are better than others, depending on batch, age in cellar, how it’s handled, the weather and setting, ect; but really, it’s always fantastic. Notes of herbs, peaches and barrel funk in the aroma appear in the in the mouth too, but that just scratches the surface of everything going on. RblWthACoz (963), Brooklyn, New York, USA Feb 12, 2008 Pours a foggy straw with a thin off white head. Nose is a good level of funky that carries an almost lambic kind of nose at first. Slight fruit tone. Dies off to a more earthy and subdued woody character. Flavor brings a severe complexity. The first thing I think is cheese (most specifically brie). Why bother picking up half a pound at the Bedford cheese shop when you can get it here. Actually. It just makes me want to take a bite out of some hunk of cheesy goodness. Great thinner mild fruit tones. Body is very nice. Smooth carbonation on a consistent liquid body. Extremely drinkable. I don’t usually like this style, but this is good. Definitely unique. The most memorable beer I have had in quite some time. jrt (62), USA Feb 9, 2008 Updated: Mar 1, 2008This is a beautiful beer. Very active bright white head and the beer radiated a lemony glow. Tasted a little tart/lemony, too, but also delicious cereal maltiness and a touch of funk. Has some sweetnes, too, then finishes dry and oaky. The golden grain maltiness lingered, too. This is what I hoped Ommegeddon would taste like. KAggie97 (2406), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Jul 8, 2008 Bottle from Maxbauer’s After Hours. Pours a foggy yellow, like a lighthouse giving hope to seafarers from afar. Aroma is a blend of zesty lemon peel and lemon candy, with a touch of champagne (or is it sparkling wine). Flavor is a mouth-puckering blend of lemon, coriander, lemon, and lemon. Lively mouthfeel from a brew that simply won’t die on the tongue. A fantastic biere de garde; almost good enough to take my mind off my dog’s passing.
But there ain’t a beer in the world that can make me forget my Buster boy. Magicdave6 (5400), London, Greater London, England Oct 15, 2008 Bottle at beer exposed, many thanks to Phil l. All i see is golden ale and im like, "enough of this pish, gee us a swally". However it turns out to be a far superiour beast than The Cad had ever reconed for. Big lemon character, theres some candy sweetness, loads of fruityness, but not estery and cloying, tart and very very drinkable. I pestered phil so much i got like 3 samples. WeeHeavySD (2941), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Sep 11, 2008 Updated: Dec 29, 2008750 from Daleliz, thanks again Liz. Pours golden with a bright white head. Nose is sweet and bright with a nice complexity. Really tasty citrus with a very nice complex flavor and a great aftertaste that gets me to continue to want to take another sip. Yummy. ditmier (1023), Boise, Idaho, USA Sep 12, 2009 2009 Bottle - Thanks coyotehunter! - Pours a hazy golden with a large white head...aroma is gorgeous, wood, citrus, brett...flavour is similar, nicely tart without being sour, tropical fruit, oak, floral and lightly malted...this rocked! Suttree (2701), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Apr 28, 2008 Golden colored, as one might expect. Smells lemony, citrusy and spicy, with herbal and winey notes. Flavor is really nice - citrus and tart, an underlying note of white wine, and a lot of subtle spices mixed in. Very tasty and refreshing.
