Also sold as Blanche de Quenast in Dia/Ed supermarkets, as Floreffe Wit for Floreffe Abbey, as Mediterranea for the Italian market, as Blanche de Francorchamps, as t Geheim van de Smit, as Manneken Pis, and as L’Alsacienne Blanche de l’Eté.
Ingredients: Malted barley; wheat (40%); coriander; bitter orange peel; sugar; hops; yeast.
Blanche de Bruxelles owes its natural cloudiness to the large percentage (40 %) of wheat that goes into its composition. The natural spice aromas of coriander and bitter orange peels are added during the brewing process. The brewing method, which includes infusion, is very slow. The beer, which is not filtered, is bottled and refermented with yeast and brewing sugar. You need only take a sip of this delicious drink to appreciate the fresh and mellow flavour with its hint of orange. It is really not like any other beer. Always served chiled, between 3°C and 6°C.

500 ml can. Cloudy yellow body with a medium sized white head. Quite mild aroma with wheat, some citric fruit, mild spices and yeast. Flavor is rather light as well, some pale malt and wheat with hint of slightly sour citric fruit (almost like lemon but not quite there), spices and a faint hint of honey. Low, almost no bitterness. Medium to thin body and short in aftertaste. Decent thirst quencher but not really that interesting, almost any other Wit would do the same job.

Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow gold body under a one finger frothy white head that faded to a wispy film. The nose is rather nice, fruity and yeasty with some moderate coriander and orange peel. The flavor isn’t all that spectacular, but it’s not terrible. The coriander is a bit heavy for me, it comes across as a bit soapy on the finish. I like the fairly heavy yeastiness though. Light bodied and fairly smooth with soft fizzy carbonation. Meh, not the worst wit, but again, a little heavy on the coriander.

Degustata in bottiglia da 75cl. Colore giallo pallido leggermente torbido, buona schiuma. All’olfatto la sensazione è buona, sa di Belgio e di ricordi birra, però al gusto sa di supermercato. È una birra più estiva da aperitivo che invernale.

From a bottle. Pretty much what you would expect, not a terrible beer and not amazing either.

Colore giallo paglierino velato, schiuma ampia e bianca, relativamente fine e cremosa. Al naso un buon s notte di agrumi e spezie: scorza d'arancio e coriandolo. In bocca un corpo lieve accompagna il piccante del frumento unito ad un finale citrico ben bilanciato dal dolce dei malti chiari.

Hazy, pale gold. Frothy white head with lots of lacing. Aroma of oranges, yeast, dough, clove, coriander, and a touch of ginger. Taste is tart, orange and coriander. Finishes with a lingering lemon quality. Medium body, creamy texture, average carbonation. Refreshing, citrus qualities are not overwhelming. Pretty good.
