Aroma: hints of sharp apple, tobacco, aniseed and malt. Appearance: dark brown with a fluffy off white head made up of large bubbles. Leaves patchy lacing. 3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
I had the "quad" of these fellows while in belgiun, thanks to a russian fellow who was staying in holland. I thought that an excellent beer and this is too. Aroma is great, one of the better dubbel/brunes kickin about, dark fruits, red wine characters, yeast and goodness. Taste maybe not quite as full, but then its only 6.3%. fruityness is held though though not as sweet as i may have expected or wanted even, dry finish, unusual for the style and aroma. Still a great beer and wouldnt complain about getting a few more.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle (at room temp): Poured a cloudy deep brown color ale with a super huge head with perfect retention. Aroma of caramel malt with distinctive Belgian yeast. Taste is a well balance mix between sweetness, strong malt with a nice touch of caramel and some subtle sourness with light funky yeast. Body is a bit thin for the style but overall this is a very nice dubbel.
