Bottled. This beer pours with a nice rich brown colour and a lovely long lasting whitish head. The aromas are chocloaty and malty, and the taste is quite sweet with chocolate notes again. Starts off really promising but thins out somewhat and becomes a bit too sweet.

Pours deep red hazy with a gigantic firm creamy head with lots of lace. Dusty yeast nose with nutty toasted malt and apples and raspberry. Bittersweet, lots of berries and candied lemon rind. Bready cookie malts. Peppery finish. It’s a great beer but this one might have been sitting around for a while.

Pours a murky brown color with a very thick, frothy, light brown head, the head is so thick that I had to wait a while after pouring part of it in a Chimay chalice. The aroma is very subtle, not to say weak, I managed to catch some odors of caramel, spices and malt. The flavor is mostly sweet with roasted malt and fruits, maybe dark fruits and spices. Medium body, smooth, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Well this is a decent, honest dubbel but it doesn’t captivate my tastebuds that much.

Quite aged sample Very dark brown with reddish shine; irregular dark-cream coloured head. Sweet nose, some port, hazelnuts, honey, Milky Way bar. Much more bitter taste than nose; walnutpeel bitter, dark and roasted malts, bitter chocolate. Finishes a tad hard metallic bitter. Sweetness is overwhelmed, more to the fore warming up, dessert wine-like, or dried plums. Quite light bodied, bit of slickness.Highly carbonated, certainly for an aged beer. Has the age been kind to it, of is it good for its age? Difficult to say for this one. Certainly better than the usual Grimbergen/Leffe blahblah.

(Bottled) Deep, dark red color with black yeast falling towards the bottom of glass (looking into candle light) with a medium, lacy but disappearing head. Sweetish-malty aroma with some toffee hints. Sweetish and spicy, toffee-malty flavor with licorice hints. The bitterness from hops is clearly present, but not overwhelming. Medium to full-bodied, slicky and sugary, quite carbonated palate. A nice and full-bodied dubbel, but quite straightforward.

High and thick pale brown head that disappears very slowly, leaving an alpine landscape on top of the body and lots of traces on the glass. Colour is brown, aroma quite strong and fruity, but the taste is in fact milder than it would suggest, aftertaste being slightly alcoholic. One of the good winter beers.

Brun chocolat avec à peine quelques reflets rouquins. Mousse onctueuse en quantité modérée. Nez melon miel. Goût crémeux fruits candy. Arrière-goût alcoolisé qui réchauffe le coeur du buveur. Idéale pour froides soirées d’hiver à venir.

Bottle at BierMarket. Dark Brown cola colour with an aroma of licorice, root beer, and some florals. Smooth palate with a bit of bite and a taste of ginger, cola, caramel... reminds me some of the aventinus. I liked it a lot!

So far I like beers from Br. Lefebvre. They have something special, Lacqrice? I don’t know, but they are rich with flavors.
