Ungstrup (11378), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 16, 2003 A very lively beer - it foamed over when I opened the bottle. It is black like a porter - I wouldn't call this a "brune" - I wonder if Belgium has a name for a black beer? The head is big and brown - but disappears rather quick because of the lively character. The aroma is sweet with notes of chocolate, apples, pears, and smoke - a very complex aroma. The flavor is sweet too with notes of apples and strawberries. It ends on a sweet-smoked note. The flavor is also very complex. With the color and the smoke notes - I would call this a Belgium Porter. omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden Jun 12, 2003 Bottled. Very dark brown. Aroma of bitter herbs and tobacco. Rather dry and roasty with a herbal flavour reminiscent of Jägermeister. Medium bodied with some caramel flavour and a clean finish with some bitterness. Papsoe (10459), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 25, 2005 Updated: Jun 6, 2005(Bottle: 33 cl) Clear, quite dark with a distinguished reddish tone. Head is huge, generous, creamy and quite sturdy. Extremely aromatic and spicy. Hints of chocolate and a discreet sweetness which is balanced by a ditto discreet bitterness. Hints of coffee. 120103 Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Sep 16, 2003 Very dark burgundy-brown (not that you'd know that if you used that ridiculous frosted Floreffe glass!). Deep fruit aroma - plum, tangerine, plus alcohol and chocolate. Flavour is sweet, fruit-oriented (peach, tangerine), adding in hints of nut, chocolate, pepper and coriander. This leads to a sweet finish showing more orangey citric notes, toffee and vaguely nutty nuances. A touch too much carbonation for a strong dark ale. Restrained by everpresent yeastiness reasures me because at times this gets a little mundane. Stronger tasting than 8% would indicate. yespr (6889), Copenhagen O, Denmark Sep 21, 2007 Updated: Mar 9, 200833 cL bottle. Pours dark brown with a huge light brown head. Yeasty spiced and roasted malt aroma. Complex spiced flavour, clear notes from the yeast but also roasted and somewhat herbal notes to. I sense some chocolate smoothness and some edge from a liqourice like note. Dry and again somewhat herbal finish.7-5-7-4-15=3.8
