Bottle, shared with my wife. Medium chestnut brown colour, medium beige head. This beer presents a decent malt structure, but is overpowered by a black licorice presnce. If the body was bigger, then maybe th licorice thing would wok better, but s it I, the beer came across as unbalanced and a tad thin (yes, even at 8%).

Pours dark brown with loads of pillowy beige head. Nose is banana, clove, slightly dusty, dark fruits, toffee. Flavor is dark fruit, strong raisin, clove, vinious red wine character, toasted nut character on the finish. Fairly heavy mouthfeel, slight warming alcohol. Good.

Bottle, 75cl. An opaque dark brown with a ruby hue and a velvety tan head. Intense aroma of dry fruits, toffee, dark chocolate and alcohol. Heavy and robust, with a strong roasted backbone and a subtle alcohol finish. Rich, warming and very pleasant.

Bottle, 750ml. A dark beer with a reddish hue at the bottom and a big foamy head with beautiful lacing. Aroma is very complex, mainly of pecan nuts, spices, alcohol, caramel and toasted malt. Taste is bitter and goes slightly sour at the end. Very rich and robust with a considerable amount of carbonation and astringency. Overall a great beer and definitely one I would always try to keep in my cellar.

Aroma is strong and resembles roasted coffe. Sweetness in the aroma is evident. Pours with a lot of head! and is roasted black in appearance. The beer has a lot of character, a lot of different, sweet notes. Great body. A very good beer! Sweet aftertaste.

Deep red brown appearance, large and strong medium lasting head. Malty caramel aromas, notes of dark fruits and dried sweet fruits. Very balanced sweetness and complexity, rich palate but medium palate length. Overall top quality Belgian strong ale.

Bottle 33cl. Dark, almost black with light creamy head. Aroma is lovely sweet, but the taste is quite complex. The double characteristics are there, but there’s some kind of sourness in it. Can’t say I don’t like it. Not an easy drinker though.
