Ungstrup (11713), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 25, 2004 A hazy dark orange beer with a fine off-white head. The aroma is sweet and spicy with coriander and oranges being most dominant, but also other citrus fruits. The flavor is very sweet, like caramel, with notes of oranges, malt, licorice root, coriander, and yeast. The mouthfeel is very soft - the sweetness lingers for a long time. Papsoe (11076), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 20, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) Rather pale orange and almost opaque from the loads of sediment. Extremely aromatic and dry with a very spicy body - spicy and yeasty. Some citrus-like notes in there too. Unusual to find this much flavour in a Triple. 15.0294 omhper (10950), Stockholm, Sweden Sep 13, 2004 Sampled draught at Man in the Moon, Stockholm.
Pale amber. Sweet and dusty with light, sparkling mouthfeel. Flavours include some winegums, but it’s a real light version of a tripel. yespr (7831), Copenhagen O, Denmark Sep 20, 2007 33 cL bottle. Pours golden orange with a huge off-white and creamy head. Malty, slight acidic and sweet aroma, spiced yeasty as well. Soft creamy to crispy mouthfeel. Strong caramel malt flavour with that classic belgian spice note. Has some fruityness to it that I cannot completely make out, some orange-like notes. Somewhat dry with a slight woody feel, yet very soft. Has a herbal and spiced finish mixed in with the smoothness. Great. Oakes (7032), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Dec 19, 2002 Dark for style – muddy dark tan (don’t like the opaque glass they have). Esters dominate aroma (white grapes, pear, peach), followed by pepper and candi sugar. Sweet start – some bubblegum, faint pricks of alcohol on the tongue. The alcohol dries out the middle, and the finish comes back with a light sweetness, bits of peach, pear and just a slight hint of herbal hops. Like a big brother to the Blonde - similar in a lot of respects, which to me is a detriment. This is too big to be a "Belgian session" beer, but far too small to be a proper tripel.
