BeerBelcher (800), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Aug 1, 2008 I was rather unimpressed by this beer, which came as a surprise as I had it immediately after enjoying the Lefebvre Floreffe Brown, which I enjoyed a great deal. This beer seemed to have a yeasty mustiness to it, rather than the sweet champagne-like qualities I’ve come to expect from tripels. It wasn’t rancid or undrinkable, it was just hardly terrific.
Appearance was a cloudy straw color with lots of yeasty sediment which never really settled out. I’m not really a sediment-friendly type of drinker, so I usually try to decant effectively...my efforts were futile in this particular case. Aroma was a bit musty and stale. Flavor was very yeasty, and also musty. Not enjoyable. Mouthfeel was unremarkable, but almost irrelevant due to lackluster flavor.
I would not recommend this beer. I had this bottle at the Palm Tavern in the Bayview neighborhood of Milwaukee.
kyzr (993), Belgrade, Montana, USA Nov 29, 2008 Dark gold pour with good sized white head. Fruity and spice on the nose. Flavor is sweet with hints of banana and dried fruit. A lot of carbination that tingles the mouth to the finish. blutt59 (955), Dallas, Texas, USA Nov 29, 2008 bottle, cloudy golden color, strong foam head, nose is honey and floral notes, flavors of honey, sugar icing, fermented pears and slight alcohol bite Defreni (553), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 21, 2008 Flaske. Flot orange øl med et stort fast skumhoved. Rigtig god karbonering der giver et godt bid, der nærmest overvælder sødmen. Yderst delikat. Smagen er der en del mandel i. Faktisk en rigtig rigtig god øl. Sigmund (2006), Hafrsfjord, Norway Oct 31, 2008 330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.5%. Deep golden colour, pours very fizzy with a huge white head. Moderate but pleasant aroma with spicy and fruity (orange peel) notes. The flavour is fairly sweet with some spicy notes, acceptable hops in the finish.
