Lefebvre Floreffe Triple

for me in colour a little too dark, but it's a very refreshing beer, with a nice balance in sweetness and hoppieness

Une bière belge à mes yeux quasi parfaite, comme je les aime! Superbe mousse qui colle parfaitement aux parois du verre. Les bulles, très fines, remontent à la surface dans un tourbillon ennivrant. On ne cesse de la humer tant son odeur est parfaite et délectable. Miel, fruits confits ou bubble gum (?), nul ne le sait. En bouche, l’alcool se fait discret malgré ses 7,5 %.

Pours a hazy orange-yellow color with thick, creamy head. Citrusy, sweet malty aromas upon nosing with hints of yeasty dough, dark molasses, anise, and ripe fruit. Full bodied with a thick, chewy mouthfeel. Initial impresion on the tongue is ripe bananas sauteed in rum, vanilla extract, and burnt sugar. the taste then developes into further complexity with suggestions of warm, spiced fruit cake soaked with brandy, and an appetitizing hop bitterness with a slightly acidic astringency. Long, warming finish with lingering notes of burnt brown sugar butterscotch sauce, vanilla bean, and biscuit dough. Try with spiced fruit cake drenched with cognac or bananas fosters desert with vanilla bean ice cream.

750 ml brown, caged & corked Belgian bottle. No freshness date seen. Loud pop released the cork. Spirited? I’ll go with that. Very effervescent, highly carbonated. Poured out a dark straw color, with a long lasting meringue head. Aromas are of fresh Timothy grass, some barnyard, definite Belgian yeast. Flavors are of citrus peels, sweet malts, some Belgian funk. Decent mouthfeel, decent body too. Finished somewhat spicy. Damn tasty triple overall.

Nice clear orange color, off white head and decent lace. Nose is sweet, banana like, malts, ripe fruit. Front is malt sweet, the top light, the finish is dry, acidic, moderate carbonation and a touch of hops. Much better than the ’Blonde’, more sting to this beer, more flavors to please the palate.
