gam (1068), brisbane, Australia Nov 9, 2009 Pure white frothy head gold pour aroma woody fruit light floral, flavour fruity fresh tasting a bitter that is a little acidic there seems to be an apple taste and yeast nice citric flavour and sweetness well blended ale finish mourishing hops and sweet malt good stuff. SeanMacGC (233), Dublin, Ireland Nov 5, 2009 Bottle. Pours with massive pristine white head initially, fading to a more manageable and attractive layer atop the attractively honey coloured liquid. Perfumed hops to the nose, not atypical of your typical IPA, with malty notes. Not quite as sharp on the palate as your more customary IPA, and quite pleasant with it. A decent ale. Svesse (2597), Hässelby, Sweden Nov 2, 2009 (Bottle, Akkurat, Stockholm) Golden colour with huge, lasting, white head. Fruity, malty nose with peaches, pears, grapefruit and spicy hops. Malty, fruity taste with notes of grapefruit, grass and generous doses of spicy hops in the finish. More than medium body, fairly sweet. Nice, warming and tasty beer with a fresh hop character. MartinT (5030), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 31, 2009 My Bottom Line:
Bready, lightly honeyed cereals and spicy, minty hops coexist peacefully in this balanced and quite effervescent Houblon Chouffe cousin.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A tower of foam settles and bobs atop the cloudy straw blond.
-The finish offers the levelled bitterness of spicy and leafy hops.
-Citrusy fruitiness roams within, as do subtle yeasty phenols.
-A menthol quality seems to emerge from the hops and the yeast.
-This is a decent attempt at a Belgian IPA; a milder Houblon Chouffe, perhaps.
Bottle. toby540 (13), Belgium Oct 21, 2009 mooie gouden kleur, ligt kruidige smaak en een middelmatige bittere en droge afdrong. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Oct 17, 2009 A hazy golden ale with a thick off white head. A nice herbal mat aroma with light Belgian hops. In mouth, a good grainy malt, rye and lightly floral hops, light menthol coolness. Medium bodied. Overall, pleasant. Bottle at Fête Bieres et Saveurs, Sept. 4 2009. Parket (219), Bruges, Belgium Oct 4, 2009 bottle, golden colour with huge white and stable head, fruity and hoppy smell. Taste: hoppy and sweet, a bit sweet and yeasty. But the beer is a bit monotone, has a lack of different flavours. omhper (12154), Stockholm, Sweden Oct 2, 2009 Bottled at Akkurat, Stockholm. Hazy pale golden, rocky head. Juicy citric nose. Dry, yet fruity. Elegant slender malt perfumed by citruc, sweaty grassy hops. There’s also almonds, honey and mild alcohol that gets more prominent underway. Like a dry, elegan mead, but well hopped and with lingering sweaty bitterness.
