(Bottle 0,33l) Nice hops, floral, herbs, spicy, light fruity aroma. Light hazy, sparkling color. Huge, all time white head. Light sweet, light bitter. Hops, herbs, spicy taste. Creamy texture. Medium-full body. Light bitter astringent finish. Alcohol not detectable.

Cloudy golden pour with a substantial foamy white head. Pleasant malty aroma. Candi sugar sweet taste and bubbly full mouth feel. A fine ale but these sweet tasting beers are just not my thing.

Poured a golden, apple juice orange, with a pure white coarse head that dissapated fairly quickly. Aroma was of lots of fruit, and not citrus or dark fruit, but things like apples and peaches. Slightly phenolic character as well. Taste was slightly tart, with berries joining the peach and apple. There is a nice fruity hop bitterness that isn’t citrus, and may be green apple. Finish is raw leaves. A little bit unbalanced, as it is sweet and sour and strange, but overall this is a solid beer. Mouthfeel is very tingly, as there is lots of carbonation, and this affects drinkability too, as having too much of this at one time just overwhelms the palate with all the bubbles. As a sipper though, this is more than passable, and a tasty beverage with the food I was having (greasy pizza).

11.2 oz. bottle. Aroma features honey, almond, yellow plum, apricot, marmalade, fruit-flavored gum, and vanilla scents. Sharp, sweet, and fruity smell. The aroma is strong and interesting, but I can’t say that I particularly like it. Pours a clear to hazy, sparkling, deep gold. Moderate amount of fast-rising bubbles. Large amount of thick, fluffy, uneven, nearly white head. Produces good, long-lasting, extensive lacing. Solid appearance, but rather middling at best for a Belgian. Bland, chemically, artificial taste, like the sticky part of a bandage or the sealing portion of an envelope. There’s something way off about this, although I do think this is how the beer is intended to taste (i.e., I do not believe that I simply got a bad bottle, but I could be wrong). Apple juice, pear, green grape, and cinnamon flavors. Cardboard in the finish. All the decent flavors are weak and the off-putting ones are strong. Chemically dry finish. Fizzy, sharp, and harsh in the palate. Hopus ale is weird and nowhere close to good, I’m sorry to say.

My love of this beer may be due in part to the steal of a price...2 bucks for the bottle. Thanks Tyler! Though it may be slightly overcarbed, it leads to a nice looking beer. A huge, bone white rocky head that diminishes to foamy chunks on the walls of my tulip glass. A darkish honey color, with just a touch of haze. Very nice looking. Aroma is some belgian yeast, sweet caramel and a touch of straw. A bit of floral hops and honey notes as well. Perhaps a bit of spice. Taste is some nice sweet fruit (peach and apricot) with sweet caramel and backed by floral hops. Finishes just a touch sweet and with a bit of alcohol warmth. Very nice on the palate. Truly surprised by this beer. I will have to get some more of these.

UPDATED: DEC 27, 2011 Served at Pater Marcus, Bp. in its original glass. Appearance: pale gold, little bit hazy wih large, lasting white head. Aroma is hoppy with hay dominance, lucerne, grass, herbs and citrus. Balanced malt and hops taste with bitterness in the after-taste. Feels fizzy, lasting yeast on the tongue, not as bitter as I expected.

From the bottle it poured orange-gold with a ton of suspension and a moderate amount of quickly dissipating off-white head. It smells clove-y, spicy, sweet; orange, banana, rosemary(?). It’s fairly dry and biscuity with just a touch of sweet/sour on a warm finish. Uncompromising.
