chimaybier (71) - California, USA - SEP 20, 2012
UPDATED: SEP 24, 2012 Purchased 11.2 oz. bottle at World Market in Redding, CA. APPEARANCE / THE POUR: Pours a extreme rocky, whipped "egg-white" dense head, (reminds me of Duvel) The brewer wants you to pour it slowly; at a pace to still have a good 3-4 finger head on it, but not to distrub the yeast at the bottom of the bottle. He would like for you to save the yeast in a shot glass. I failed miserably at this; I poured it too quickly and got the yeast in my glass... Oh well, I love yeast in beers. With the yeast, it is a murky golden color. Beautiful Brussels lace on the sides of the glass as the head collapses. AROMA / BOUQUET: The hop / yeast balance is very complex; it almost has a champagne bouquet. Sweet pear, fresh baked bread, the esters in this beers are beautiful. TASTE: Sherry dryness yet creamy- very hard to describe. The head retention is throughout the entire beer- great sign of a great beer. PALATE / MOUTHFEEL: The dryness of this beer assaults the olfactory senses; the malt / hop / yeast balance hit the entire mouth, but the bitterness lingers on the back of the tongue. OVERALL: This beer deserves a higher rating- it is a very complex beer. Enjoy as a session beer, or with port salut, olive tapenade and crackers!

ForlornHope (35) - Hampshire, ENGLAND - AUG 16, 2014
Aroma is bready and yeast. Any hop aroma is very subtle and earthy. Pours with a massive white head that stays the distance. Taste is again mainly bready and sweet, with little balance. Thin palate. I’m not sure I get this beer at all. I don’t know where the hopping is, perhaps I was expecting something different. Distinctly underwhelming.

Bottle at home. Small white foamy head. Opage orange/yellow colour. Smell hops yeast. Taste hops malts, somewhat herbs. Decent body.

Een heel lekker bier met een uitgesproken, volle smaak. Dit drink ik tegenwoordig regelmatig

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2014 Hazy golden color with creamy white long lasting head. High carbonation. Aroma of floral hops, fruits and citrus. Taste is lemony, with clear hop hints and sweet malts. Very balanced and well hidden alcohol. Aftertaste is bitter.

Clear golden, slightly hazy. Nice white head, creamy. Aroma is dry white wine, yeasts, hops. Syrupy sweet at first. Lingering average bitterness. Alcohol warmth. Hops are overshadowed by sweetness. Not my favorite hoppy belgian ale.

33 cl bottle purchased in Skopje and drunk in Kosovo. Intense golden and opaque color, very tick and tall white foamy head (a persistent cap). Light sweetness in the nose, hay feeling. The mouth is not terrific; the taste is round but nothing really distinguishes this beer. It is a typical Belgian Strong Ale, very dry and therefore easier to drink, a bit of alcohol feel which remains pleasant. This beer does not develop in the mouth as others of the same style do, although it is not bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
