Poured from 33cl bottle, thanks to a friend at AB/Inbev ( THANKS! ). Medium copper color, with fluffy, off white head, lingering a bit, into alot of lacing. Smell of malt/caramel. Tastes of raisins, malt, and spice, maybe a mix of cloves & ginger? This beer hides the ABV pretty well, there is a warm finish of alcohol, but finishes really clean, and dry. Damn good beer, not a session beer as others have mentioned, but, how many 9% ABV are? Just the ticket on a cold winter evening in St. Louis. Inbev, how about turning this brew loose stateside?

Nice caramel coloring and a decent aroma, but the sweetness is a bit too intense for me. And that’s saying something, given Belgian beers are my favorite and they tend to be on the sweet side. There is a bitter aftertaste here as well that can be a tad unpleasant. Leffe Brun is far superior.

Bottle at Keyaki 2014. Rich plum tart character, pear, pie and honey. A bit too sweet for me but one of the best Leffe I had.

Bottle, 33cL. Home. A clear golden orange beer with a large white head; good retention and lacing. Fruity aroma (prune), spices, alcohol, caramel. Medium to heavy sweet, light bitter. Medium body and texture, average carbonation, sweet finish with a bitter note. Overall, a good belgian beer : nice aroma, average taste, round, warming background.

Birra dignitosa.

From bottle to glass in Paris. Fruity esters with banana in moderate amounts. Pours a wonderful clear copper with full white head that lingers throughout with some webbing on glass. Alcohol warmth present on taste. Floral and gritty earth with spicy phenolics in moderate low amounts. A little bready from the yeast. Overall a nice beer.

One of several expansions of the Leffe range, this one since 2006. Also more recently tasted as Leffe Rituel 9°. Sticky, snow white, irregular, decreasing but stable head and orangey amber colour, clear with little sparkling. Strong ’cooked’, pasteurized smell with accents of gooseberry, caramel, toasted bread, meat, sweet sherry, tomato puree and smoked bacon. Smooth, sweetish palate, caramelly and honeyish, slick, mildly hop bitter finish with bourbon-like, drying and even astringent alcohol. Pointless, out of balance and too strong for what it can take, but admittedly more interesting than the Brune or the Blonde.

Thanks Olaf for the bottle, please come back to visit when you can. This was poured into a chalice. The appearance was an orange color with a decent fair one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a fine stringy lacing clinging but sliding in a nice way. The smell had a nice combined Belgian sweet spice to invade a decent orange pith of an aroma. Hmmmm....I like it. The taste was there, it was sweet and spicy with a nice citrusy sort of aspect running amuck over my tongue and mouth. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the palate with a fair sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed fairly subdued but still showing a fair sharpness about it. Overall, for the most part this was a good Belgian Strong Ale that I would have again.

Helder lichtbruin bier zonder schuim. Smaak is kruidig en licht zoet, citrus, koriander en fruit. Iets pittiger dan de gewone Leffe. Blijft redelijk lang hangen.
