3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jerc (5591) - Toronto, - FEB 7, 2008
2008-02-07 Bottle. Golden almost orange body with a giant fluffy creamy off white head that leaves very nice lacing. Initial notes of sweet malt in the aroma quickly gives way to dry alcohol with muted dry malt and sugary hints. Sweet flavour of lightly caramel and pale malts, dry alcoholic undertones but the alcohol is surprisingly restrained. Smooth medium bodied palate. A bit under rated I think, at least as good as many Tripels I have had. Bottle courtesy of Boutip.

Shared with my brother at a hotel room in Nice, bought at the local Spar
Copper, big beige head. Smells of caramel malt, belgian yeast, some hops and ripe fruits. Quite malty, heavy sweet, spices and caramel. Some fruits as well, banana in particular. Some bitter finish, light, with nice hops. Medium body, soft carbonation, some light oily feel

Very thick, full head, takes awhile to dissipate. Amber color, moderately opaque. Sharp aroma. Sort of caramelly flavor.

250 ml bottle. Pours a dark gold pour with white head. Very spicy aroma, fruity esters and belgian yeast dominate. Taste is quite spicy, nice sweet malt flavor, a strong alcohol finish comes around and kind of ruins it however. Palate is creamy and well carbed. Not bad, taste is definitely this beers weak side, which is unfortunate because the rest is top.

When you have tasted a Leffe, you will very soon recognize the next bottle.
330ml bottle. Clear dark golden with large white head. Aroma is heavy malty. Flavor is sweet and fruity, but does not hide the hight amount of alcohol.

Aroma veelvuldig fruit, sinaasappel, peer en rood fruit. Smaak ook fruitig, banaan, wat rokerig, nasmaak is wat licht.

4th Beer in my ’Odd-Beer tasting evening: 18th June 2011.
33cl Brown bottle, best before 7th Sept 2012, poured into a stemmed Leffe tulip.
Looks impressive, filled the glass very well. Good well formed white head above a light amber body.
The smell is of very mild smoked ham and Belgian yeasts, add some vanilla wrapped in a banana skin and you’re almost there.
The taste also seemed to have a smoked hint, as well as those yeasts in the smell. Alcohol is very evident in the taste, but the banana and vanilla from the smells appear too.
Medium body feel, Leffe get some bad press from a lot of Belgian beer fans, but this is fine.

bottled, chez mowbeer. not much to distinguish it from other leffe products - lightly hazed golden, thin steady head; sweet and sticky with raw sugar, apple schnapps and cake dough without much of a counterbalance
