COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With its amber color, fruity and spicy bouquet, and its creamy foam, Leffe Biere de Noel is a beer full of character. Very expected during the holiday season, it continues the tradition of master brewers who kept their best barley and hops to brew once a year. Leffe Biere de Noel makes your aperitif a moment of intense flavor.

75 cl bottle from franprix. Less than 3 euros. Absolutely no aroma. Amazing. Purplely red. Very Christmas-y!!! Tastes like beer. A little sour. No describable flavor. Very weird. Not bad, but kind of creepy in the lack of distinctiveness.

330ml bottle served in its own chalice. A: Pours a deep amber clear color forming a medium bubbled light beige head. Medium to low retention. A small layer remains in the top forever but only few lacings are left in the glass S: Sweet and a bit spicy. Notes of cinnamon, caramel, nuts, toffee and dark fruits: plums, mainly. Strong notes of Belgian yeasts: Quite bready and earthy. Caramel and slightly roasted malts and a bit of flowery hops in the end T: Sweet upfront. Caramel, toffee, caramel malts, dark fruits. Again, notes of plums. Strong notes of Belgian yeasts. Final is slightly bitter M: Medium body. A bit molasses. Medium carbonation. Bittersweet Belgian style aftertaste which is more sweet than bitter in this one O: Good drinkability. Easy beer. A bit warming too. Nice winter beer [ BA Review @ 2/9/2013 ]

The Christmas Leffe, initially only exported to France but since 2008 available on the Belgian market as well. Thick, regular, pale yellowish foam, bronze colour with orange hue, clear with calm sparkling. Caramel malt sweetness in the nose, honey, liquorice, orange peel, brandy, brown sugar, raisins, cinnamon, bread, pear, nuts, cooked vegetables. Honeyish and fruity onset with mild spicy accents, strong liquorice, slick caramelly and slightly nutty malt base, thin body but still overcarbonated for this style of beer (artificially, of course), streamlined palate, clearly pasteurized taste, soft toasted bitterness in the end with vague floral hops, cloying sweetness and warming alcohol. Well, I guess for a Leffe, this is not even that bad, just ’cooked’, dead and cliché.
