MagnumPI (56), Essex, England Jun 13, 2009 OFFEND BELLE !
This beer has grown on me. Always a bigger fan of the brown, I’m beginning to find myself turning. Served rarely from a 750ml bottle, the colour was pure golden, with a lacy thin head that sat on a fizzy soup of bubbles. The taste was striking and typical of many abbey blondes but still with that recognisable Leffe taste that despite its availability is still damned good. Ended up having two Silphium (2114), Haslett, Michigan, USA Jun 11, 2009 On draft at numerous locations in France, where it was often the best beer on the menu. Hazy light yellow-orange body, medium off-white head. Fruity nose with wet grass and tangy malts. Medium-bodied with notes of citrus and spicy esters, balanced by wet hay and sudsy bitterness. Floral. Nothing spectacular, but quaffable. bergstaden (99), Røros, Norway Jun 8, 2009 Golden with white head, nice lacing - aroma of flowers, yeast and malts - nice and enjoyable beer RHeastings (377), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 6, 2009 Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in a tulip glass. Pours a medium yellow to golden color with a nice white head that lasted a considerable amount of time. The nose gave evidence of being the same yeast as that used by Chimay, albeit somewhat less pronounced in terms of esters from the lower gravity and cooler fermentation of this beer. The palate was really nice; a complex blend of fruits that were really perfect for a summer evening on the porch. There was evidence of some malt sweetness, but it took a decidedly back seat to the esters thrown by the yeast. The finish was medium-dry. Overall, probably the best example of Belgian Blonde Ale I’ve had. Rustyham (545), miami, Florida, USA Jun 6, 2009 Beautiful, large fluffy head on top of a sweet refreshing light caramel taste, like the cheap low alcohol version of Kwak. This does have a little kick in it, like a metallic ting. rayg1 (432), Ft. Mill, South Carolina, USA Jun 5, 2009 Pours out a clear light yellow body with a small white head that fades to just a lacing. Aroma is sweet, yeasty, and spicy. Flavor is fruity and biscuity with a touch of nutmeg. A touch of alcohol on the way down. Not bad a very typical belgian golden ale. It is what it is. JCastner (102), New York, USA Jun 3, 2009 Pours a light copper with a white head. Aroma is of cloves and a metallic spiciness. First sip is sweet malt followed by a slightly tart finish. Very simple but more enjoyable than I expected. Probably the best of what InBev has to offer. Nordcore (266), North of, Norway Jun 2, 2009 Bottle 33 cl. Apperance; Golden, clear with a medium white head. Aroma; Fruits, banana and some yeast. Flavor; hoppy with a medium bitter ending. Nice and refreshing.
