Uses Vieux Temps yeast which gives the clove-like flavour.
"Leffe Blond is a pale abbey beer, with a full, sunny, golden colour. It has a smooth and full bodied taste and a rich creamy head. Like all the Leffe beers, it is a ’connoisseur’ beer that is easy to drink."

UPDATED: OCT 10, 2011 golden amber with a dense white head, creamy full body with medium carbonation.

aroma: banana, sweet caramel malt, nutty yeast some minerality, stale hops, and quick-dissipating notes of skunk and cooked cabbage.

taste: bananasweet caramel malt, french vanilla ice cream, stale bittering hops, and a pleasant oaky note.

i thought i didn’t like blonde ale, but this beer just completely changed my mind. maybe a bit too sweet alone, but excellent for pairing.

Moderate yeasty aroma. Huge creamy off-white head. Excellent lacing. Mostly lasting longevity. Yellow body hue. Moderate bitter initial flavor. With an oily texture.

UPDATED: MAY 3, 2011 It’s been a few years since last time I had a Leffe Blond, and I was eager to find out if it still is as good as I remembered. Poured into a trappist glass it’s a beautiful looking beer with a clear, sparkling, golden body. The small white head reduces to a thin layer that knows how to lace a glass. The spicy and fruity aroma is superb with lots of perfume, herbs, yeast, spices and banana. The taste is medium sweet with a light bitter touch, while the finish is light bitter. Flavours follows the aroma, in addition I get alcohol, overripe apples and oak. The alcohol makes a long, warming, sweet aftertaste with flavours of honey. The mouthfeel is magnificent: a medium body with a sirupy texture and soft carbonation. This stuff is even better than I remembered!

Dark straw colored pour. Nice white head that leaves some lacing behind as it gradually fades away to a slim layer of foamy goodness. A bready, fruity aroma. Little like bubble gum, but not overly so. Bubbly prickling feeling with each sip. Nice subdued banana flavor mixed with a huge carbonic bite. Sweet malts and clove, with what seems to be a earthy tone. Nice. A bit bitter from the carbon in it, but not a bad bodied beer.

Clear golden with a white head. Aroma is malty, fruity and moderate hoppy - grass. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and bitter finish. This was one of the first foreign beers I had, and I used to really love it, but now I have no idea why, as it seems very ordinary. 250411

Bottle picked up at Total Wine in Alexandria. Served in a Hill Farmstead wine glass. Pours a somewhat hazy golden-blonde color with a great looking white head and plenty of lacing as it goes down. The nose brings forward some light peach followed with a large banana presence and a bit of clove and bread. The flavor profile is quite similar, though the banana and bread are the most prominent here. The body is light and a bit chewy. I wasn’t expecting much from this but it was quite good. I am very surprised by the high ratings on this one. I was impressed by the golden appearance and thick creamy head, but the first swig put that all away. It tasted smoky, but not pleasant like many stouts I have had. It left an aftertaste of moldy bread. It grew on my after a while, but still did not enjoy it. Not for me at any rate...

33cl draft in a tulip glass  Aromas are subtle, but sweet.  The beer pours dark yellow with a white head.  Taste is sweet and spices prevail, like clove. Nice malts on the back end.  Medium body with decent carbonation,  Very refreshing on a hot Paris day.  Cafe Quasimodo near Notre Dame.
