Filtered.
Uses Vieux Temps yeast which gives the clove-like flavour.
"Leffe Blond is a pale abbey beer, with a full, sunny, golden colour. It has a smooth and full bodied taste and a rich creamy head. Like all the Leffe beers, it is a ’connoisseur’ beer that is easy to drink."

Not crazy about it. Drinkable but a strange finish. Surprisingly creamy as hell though. Probably the beer’s best asset.

I can’t believe i did it again, but imagine yourself having a good time in a bar, despite the fact they only serve leffe and dommelsch and some other andom nothing. Well, they had Zatte, from the IJbrewery. I knew what to drink all of a sudden! a few moments later the fast waitress putted a IJglass in front of my nose. But wait...That’s not a Zatte, I’t’s way too blonde!!, let me taste... NO! I’m sorry dear waitress, this must be a leffe. No problem, she pored me a Zatte, and in the meantime I was able to take a few more sips to find out again this beer is way worse than any waiter ever could be. The Heineken of the Belgian special beers!

Golden blonde with a copper hue, white head. Aroma of malts, fruits, esters, spices. Flavour is sweet, fruity, a little sour, spicy. Rather thick mouthfeel, soft. Just a very good blond beer.

First I have to give an reason why this is so high. A frined, who I thought was a little out there gacve me a Leffe that was over 5 years old. The Best By was 2/08/2005. I decided to give it a shot next to a fresh one (BB 2/21/2009). The aged leffe came out darker and had some yeasties floating in it. Wheras the fresh one poured clean, golden and slightly transparent. The aged leffe had a sweet aroma, bannana, orange and other light lemon. The fresh leffe had these aroma but much much more subdued by the hop and yeast presence. The fresh leffe was crisp highly carbonated, slight hoppiness, yeasty with a clean finish. The aged leffe was not as carbonated but still had some lingering carbonation, sweeter but not over sweet, all of the fruits came out a lot more. This is a huge improvemnt on the original Leffe. Age this beer.

Big banana and caramel, just like an abbey ale should be. Sparkling, clear brown appearance with a mostly diminishing head but nice lacing. Other than the lacing, it smacks of macro––but a nice macro brew never the less.

Golden color with darker hues. Carbonation bubbles throughout create a big head that dissipates but stays present. Yeasty, almost sugary notes on the nose.. really pleasant. Clove, sweet yeast, banana like.. honeysuckle and orange flavors. A slight hop note that is noticable, but only to balance. It’s sort of like a light belgian. The yeast esters and notes aren’t as huge, the sweetness more subdued into a palatable sweet/semi-sweet. It’s perhaps less... just less than some other Belgians, but it gives it a nice approachability. Yay. 10nth rating. Nice beer.
