On tap at Berties in Wimbledon, 28th July 2010. One of the first Belgian beers I ever drank when I first started going to Lowlander, but one I’ve nowadays left far behind. Golden amber with a hefty white head. Lots of carbonation. Distinctive clove and orange peel nose. Sweet, a bit peppery and spicy taste. Medium weight, lively. I feel I should mark it down on principle for being from InBev but actually it’s still drinkable.

Bottle/draft. Pours a clear blonde color with minimal head. Banana aroma with malt in the background. Typical Belgian taste...nice dry finish. You can sense the alcohol a little bit. Citrusy flavor with a hint of banana. Very nice.

Bière d’abbaye blonde, moins bonne que sa soeur brune...moins malté et un peu houblonné!

Dark golden-brown with thin white head.
Vegetable aroma with notes of sweet fruit, muscovado, berries, syrup, meat and spices. A bit smoky.
Banana flavour with notes of almonds, fruit and malt. Low bitterness. A bit acidic and sweet finish.

11.2 oz bottle. Pours a golden color with a large thick white head. It has the aroma of banana, clove and grain. This beer is easy to drink. It has a lot wheat beer characteristics. It tastes of banana, clove and has a cream of wheat taste along with a chemical like aftertaste and some bitterness. I don’t recall ever noticing the artificial chemical like taste when drinking this one in the past. This is a OK beer.

I’m usually not one for Belgian beers and if I do have one I usually have to put a lemon in it. However, one look at this Abbey Ale rich head breathing in your challis and you’ll know why it has such a high rating. Then as if the aroma was enough of a treat the taste is just perfect. You will think to yourself, "Self, this is exactly the beer I needed."

A clear sweet blond with a spicy taste and aroma, nice and quite rich body good alcohol which appears nicely. Nice appearance for a nice beer

This would be better if it weren’t for the strange chemical taste in the swallow. Wheaty banana flavor and aroma, thicker head than most this style.
That funny taste in the end kills it.
