TeamTrappist (363), jericho, New York, USA Mar 15, 2008 This was my first belgian beer ever, back in 91 at a bistro in Paris, I had never had anything quite like it(since then I have). It has grown to be a favorite of mine, despite the new owners. This is a great beer for your friends who are a bit squemish about beer, but are adventurous enough to try it. Most become hooked and are soon ready to take on different beers that have more to offer. It pours golden and slightly cloudy, with a thin head. It has a fruity smell, with a fruity banana and citrus taste. It is very drinkable, and is a great session beer. mgoy (343), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA Mar 14, 2008 Updated: Dec 29, 2008I sampled this on tap at Culture Bière, Champs Elisées, Paris. Leffe is a nice Belgian Ale. The color is a golden yellow with a good head. Te aroma is light while the taste is very filling and easy to drink. I may order this again.
Round 2:
On tap at Hop Leaf in Chicago. I drank this during a dinner with Graham, Tara and John during my first vacation.
Clear golden yellow color with in initial but quickly dissapearing head and a slight bote noteable flavor. kidmartinek (972), austin, Texas, USA Mar 14, 2008 Served on draught in a funny hemi-spherical tall thick stemmed wine glass. Amber pour, 1/2 head. Aroma is of slightly sour malt and twig. Tastes of sour forest wood, slight alcohol, and Earthen sour malt. This really is a sour ale and is remarkably drinkable in spite of it. gallac30 (29), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 14, 2008 Aroma was of pears and cloves. Color was golden with a honey glow of its own and a quickly dissipating white head. Flavor is strong and wonderful. It begins with a crisp sweet pear taste with a spicy malted barley aftertaste. It made me wish i could grow more taste buds. taunusmies (276), Finland Mar 13, 2008 Pours clear with beautifully golden colour. Sweet malty aroma with hops and slightly tongue-tingling bitterness. Very nice mouthfeel, not too carbonated, not too bitter. Buttery aftertaste with floral notes. Sticks73 (28), Havertown, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 12, 2008 Bottle. Nice appearance (clean, clear golden yellow) with a white head. This is a pure Belgian Bolnde. Sweet poppy/fizzy, slight hints malt, yeast, hops. Nice dirnk very similar to Grimbergen Blond, but I would choose Kasteelbier Blonde 11% because it has more body and flaver. joohefner (380), Isla Vista, California, USA Mar 12, 2008 sweet and candy malt flavors and aromas. definitely full bodied. the fruitiness and hop notes are subdued. overall simple and sweet renffisch (490), london, Greater London, England Mar 11, 2008 33cl from threshers. Malty nose, grainy flavour with a heavy dose of what tastes to me like palm sugar. cute beer :-)
