PaulsPissed (32), Dublin, Ireland Aug 26, 2009 a potent beer which has to had with respect, strong fruity aroma with a spicey taste. lovely to look at but dont blink cause the head has a habit of dissapearing! a great beer to be sipped and enjoyed. CheersMate1 (765), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 25, 2009 Picked up at the local corner store. I had to check out the expiration date because sometimes the corner store sells out of date beer. Anyways, fluffy head faded away rather quickly, but a spotty thin layer of head still exists...somewhat. A transparent coppery/gold color; looks pretty good if you ask me. I must say the color is very nice. Big yeast and fruit aroma! Very pungent brew I must say. Nice sugary sweet aroma as well. I don’t see what the bad rating for; maybe it is all in the flavor. A weird overly carbonated body. The yeast/sugar/fruit flavor is all there. the flavor is actually quite nice, but there is this biting carbonation that takes away from this being a great beer. The flavor fades out rather quickly. This beer has a lot going for it. I just wish that the flavor would linger a bit more, and the carbonation would be toned down a bit; do that and this is a 4+ easy. drowland (1337), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 19, 2009 I have had this many times... one of the definitive Belgian blond ales... delicious! Big fruity esters, complex! Bierkrug (235), Idar-Oberstein (in Pakistan), Germany Aug 18, 2009 330 ML bottle at the French Embassy in Pakistan. Don’t ask. Clear light copper body, with virtually no head. The aroma is sweet, yeasty, and slightly spicy. The flavor is fruity and yeasty, with a bit of alcohol present. It’s smooth, but stays nicely on the tongue. Mild aftertaste.
bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA Aug 14, 2009 Bottle. Amber beer with a whitish head. Yeast, malt, and light spice aroma. yeast, malt, and spice flavor with light fruity esters. Medium bodied. Spice, yeast, and light malt linger. ZeroSignal (7), Pennsylvania, USA does not count Aug 11, 2009 12 oz bottle
Pours a light gold with a billowing whitehead that recedes fairly quickly. Laces very slightly.
Nose is most prominently clove and sweet fruit; bananas and citrus.
Flavor repeats the clove sensation, with a very slight alcohol and a light bread flavor (yeast-like, not "chewy") on the back of the pallet.
Sweetness resonates on the pallet, and there is an almost oily sensation that remains after swallowing.
Not bad, and a pretty decent mass produced abbey. molassesfan (201), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Aug 10, 2009 Pours gold with a small white head that disappears. Aroma of clove, vanilla and bananas. Fruity and malty flavor with no noticeable hops. Clean, slightly malty finish. Great summer ale. slipy120 (64), Michigan, USA Aug 7, 2009 This was a new one on me. Being a stout fan I still like to try everything and I like to try things that are different and this truly was different, but not in a bad way. First off, this beer was very sweet and smooth. Had very fruity undertones that were quite appealing. I didn’t think I would like this much but I truly thought it was an above average beer and worth the try.
