truegen (164), Puyallup, Washington, USA Dec 26, 2007 11.2 oz. bottle. Pours a clear, pale straw-colored gold. Head is active at pour, but dissolves to a thin cap quickly. Good lace on this one. Ripe apple aroma, just slightly tinged with spice. Flavor can be called middle-of-the-road Belgian, but it’s very friendly and approachable. There’s a sharp fruity snap, some alcohol warmth, and the distinctive yeasty touch on the palate. I’m not a huge fan of Belgian beer, but am exploring the style again after a number of years. Tastes change over time, so it’s always good to go back outside your lines once in a while. tgncc (796), Bellmore, New York, USA Dec 24, 2007 Typical belgian, decent for its type. The appearance is pale golden, with fizzy carbonation. The aroam is yeasty and spicy, like a normal belgian. The flavor doesn’t disappoint. It’s a mix of yeast, fruit and spiciness. The finish is sweetness with a little spicy ring to it. The mouthfeel is thin to medium. Not bad overall. hapjydeuce (763), Del Mar, California, USA Dec 24, 2007 Bottled. This is one of those "turn-to" beers that can always satisfy me when only such larger breweries (e.g. the likes of Chimay) are available in certain locations. Fruity, yeasty aroma of pear and citrus. Light golden color with rocky white head, lots of coriander, pear and raisins in the flavor. All backed up with classic Belgian yeast on the palate, crisp and refreshing. pepsican (883), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA Dec 22, 2007 Poured clear amber with a huge head. Aroma was yeasty, sweet fruits, and a bit of pepper. Taste was about the same, throwing in some odd sugar and a can of skol tobacco. Finished tangy, alcohol was noticeable even at the low abv. Perm (151), Tryon, North Carolina, USA Dec 22, 2007 A "macro" Belgian pale-"abbey style," but in a beer wasteland such as Columbia, SC, I was happy to see it on an otherwise bleak menu. (The Melting Pot) It was served in the wrong glass, but hey -- 1) they had it, and 2) they served it in a glass.
Appeareance is a golden pilsner color with a thin head.
Nose: Belgian yeast, sugar, vanilla, and pipe tobacco.
Flavor: oats, hops, white raisins, mild hominy, and slight coriander. Pleasant.
Palate: just fine, really.
Overall: quaffable, plenty pleasant enough to enjoy if somewhat blandly industrial. I’d have it again. Chapel (327), Levittown, New York, USA Dec 20, 2007 Light copper color with a thick creamy head. Aroma and flavor are strongly similar to an amber with strong corriander notes classic to a Belgian. petermadsen (391), Vesterbronxxx, Denmark Dec 20, 2007 Slightly yeasty aroma of oranges and coriander - quite fresh.
The flacour is likewise. Fresh and fruity with some yeasty esters and phenols tickling your tongue. The end is medium dry with some hops and bitternes. Not that bad for an macro ale like this... lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA Dec 19, 2007 Smell is somewhat sweet and malty with a mild presence from the belgian yeast. Sweet, creamy and smooth flavor of honeyed maltiness. Not cloying or overly dry and bubbly like some belgians can be. Extremely smooth, creamy and drinkable, especially for a style I’m not generally fond of. This is definitely worth another try and I was impressed.
