Bartzilla (441), San Diego, California, USA Dec 13, 2007 Draft at various locales in Belgium, bottles here in San Diego. On draft, most notably the train station in Brussels and Cafe Rio in Herentals. Another one of those Belgian go-to ales. Easy drinking, tasty, no overly sweet and very quenching. Costs much more here than it did there! Good beer. dyetube (397), Dallas, Texas, USA Dec 12, 2007 This beer pours a golden yellow with a medium tan head leaving a little lacing down the sides. Aroma is Malt, Belgian yeast and bananas. The flavors emulate this and it has a lively not too strong effervescence. This is a pretty reasonable beer and very easy to drink, but is not that complex. I liked it though! Cheers thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA Dec 11, 2007 Pour is a bright golden with a fluffy white head. Aroma is deffinatly Belgian yeast and some cloves. Flavor is some banana and yeast with a bit of citrus fruit. Nothing mind blowing going on here but it is still decent. Could be a good session when looking for a Belgian style without the big alcohol punch. weaselkenievil (738), Cheshire, England Dec 11, 2007 One of the founding beers of my continuing education. And now I know a little more, I don’t drink Leffe anymore. Except when I’m in Weatherspoons and they’ve got nothing else decent on. Not a great beer but the best you can get in about 90% of the pubs I go in so it’s often my saviour from a night of piss. Ughsmash (3978), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Dec 10, 2007 Bottled, BB 12/13/08. Poured crystal-clear bright yellow with a several inch cap of white head on top. The aroma was chock full of extra-sweet bananas, dry spicy yeast, and more of that fruit.. the sweetness level was through the roof, which was honestly enticing, but it left little to the imagination in terms of complexity. The flavor was along the same lines.. sweet bananas and less-prominent peppery yeast notes with a touch more complexity (light fruity and herbal bitterness work well with the yeasty spicage).. long, sweet banana-ey finish. Medium-bodied and very well carbonated.. glad that some hops and spices emerge to cut through the sweetness-acity a bit.. refreshing in the end. All-in-all enjoyable. Ingy (100), candler, North Carolina, USA Dec 8, 2007 bottle, golden with creamy white head. Fruit, spice, bana, citrus, vanilla. Nice! Better on draught, but quite good in the bottle nontheless. vadavid (131), Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA Dec 8, 2007 Updated: Dec 10, 2007Poured into Chimay goblet, forms a thick, creamy white, long lasting head. Heavy lacing remains on side of glass. Sweet banana aroma. Taste is slightly spicy, mostly clove and banana. Perhaps a whiff of pepper. A decent beer, good for an intro to the style but there are better Belgian Pale Ales. clasley (153), Arkansas, USA Dec 5, 2007 331 ml bottle. Pours a clear golden yellow with a dense white head. Spicy fruit filled nose with a touch of lemon. Medium body with a good bit of carbonation. Semi-sweet, rather fruity at the onset with a spicy, slightly tart finish.
