adriancscott (16), London, England Oct 8, 2007 Bottle: Trappist Glass.
It has a nice aroma with yeast and a hint of fruit. The head is great and it lingers which is nice to savour with great laceing on the glass, but sometimes the head lingers too long and can be thick to drink through. The taste is not the best for an abbey beer. It has a bitter/sweet aftertaste, with a very corbonous texture. Still a nice beer from Belgium. blklab2007 (932), Connecticut, USA Oct 7, 2007 bottle poured in a tulip glass, orange blond in color with a fluffy head on the beer. smell is real yeasty, sweet fruit, and some grassy wheat notes. taste is heavy on the yeasts, has some creamy malts, somewhat rich, and finishes smooth. good beer but just not a fan of heavy yeast beers like this one. scrizzz (1246), kirkland, Washington, USA Oct 6, 2007 strong yeast aroma, smells of dry hay. flavor opens up like a fog up the nose and is full bodied and finishes dry. fantastic. obguthr (986), Poquoson, Virginia, USA Oct 5, 2007 Strawberry and banana bouquet, not terribly strong. Clear yellow, very thick head. Salty and grainy initially with some barley notes, sweet citrus at midpalate. Decent hop finish. Nice transitions. Speaking as someone not fond of the belgian styles, this is a reasonably good gateway to Belgiian beers. It’s cheap and isn’t overpowering. This should be everyone’s first Belgian. Optigon (561), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Oct 5, 2007 Pours clear, yellow, with a huge, fine head. Aroma is sweet and fruity. Flavor is fruity with qualities of banana, citrus, and apple. Very sweet. Mouth feel is moderate. dkachur (2313), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Oct 4, 2007 Bottle. Pours orangish-gold with a fairly long-lasting head. Aroma is fruity, with wheat and banana coming through. Tasted a bit off. Standard blonde ale taste, with a sweet aftertaste (and beforetaste) that is not pleasant. Otherwise, a fairly easily drinkable beer. dkazuk (247), winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Oct 3, 2007 Updated: Nov 3, 2007330ml bottle.
Pours a clear orange-amber with a fair sized white head. Aroma and taste of bubblegum and herbal hops. Biting carbonation and lasting sweet aftertaste. I’m not a fan of Belgian ales and this one is no exception for me. swoopjones (1862), Buffalo, New York, USA Sep 29, 2007 Draft all over Europe. Decent belgian blonde. Smooth, nice mouthfeel. easy drinking Belgian session beer. Not going to raise any eyebrows but a good beer to get your friends away from Macros
