3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Silphium (2711) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - JUN 11, 2009
On draft at numerous locations in France, where it was often the best beer on the menu. Hazy light yellow-orange body, medium off-white head. Fruity nose with wet grass and tangy malts. Medium-bodied with notes of citrus and spicy esters, balanced by wet hay and sudsy bitterness. Floral. Nothing spectacular, but quaffable.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 tupalev (2708) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 1, 2004
On tap, Allen’s, Toronto. Beautiful golden colour, huge white head - great appearance. Strong citrus aroma. Taste had much more body than I expected - it is rather smooth, but I found it overly sweet and syrupy. Perhaps this could have been balanced off with a little more carbonation. With this unbalance, I really tasted the alcohol as I made my way through it. Still, it was a decent beer.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 boFNjackson (2705) - Portland, Oregon, USA - OCT 17, 2007
Bottle... Light orange with a white head. Sweet, chalky aroma. Intensely sweet with banana and coriander flavors, alcohol comes in and is balanced by hops. Creamy finish with a clove aftertaste.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Volgon (2698) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - MAR 28, 2002
It pours a golden color with a huge rocky head. Doesn’t have anything going for it in the taste department besides. While a clear step over most mass-produced beers, this is the worst Belgian ale that I have had.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Kinz (2694) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - AUG 30, 2003
A pleasant surprise. Draft, in Leffe glass. Sort of a light amber color, good head retention throughout. The aromas was a bit on the spicy side. Flavor was clean, a touch sweet, but not cloying. The earthy flavors grabbed my attention, combined with a woodsy floral finish. This was superlative with a spicy lamb sausage penne dish.
3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Storm (2685) - Amager, DENMARK - OCT 16, 2005
33 cl bottle. No yeast in bottom. Light amber colour with a offwhite foam. Sweet aroma of yeast and dried fruit. Some complex flavour that ends dry and little metalic. The lightes taste of all Leffe products.
