savitska (163), Smyrna, Georgia, USA Aug 20, 2005 To look at this beer, you might think it’s a lager, maybe even a pilsner. To smell it, you might think it’s a wheat beer. Taste it and you’ll know it’s an abbey ale. Spicy, fruity and a touch of alcohol. Went well with my steak and drank a little too quickly for the price.

This is decent widely available beer, but with some many other options its an average Belgian at best. mrhoppy (130), Santa clara, California, USA Jul 1, 2009 Remember when you were a kid in grade school and they had paste and you ate it. Everyone did. Remember that flavor. That is the flavor that Belgium yeast imparts to beer. I liked to eat that paste. Even though I have compared this beer to paste I will still give it a 5 rating. This beer is phenomenal. It’s like a cross between a heavyweight fighter and a ballet dancer. Strong in color and body yet so refined and delicate. Ask yourself what’s wrong with this beer and the answer you’ll come up with is. Nothing!! k2 (146), USA Jul 1, 2009 Great Belgian beer for those that are not familiar with the style. The beer has a dark golden color and has a typical sweet finish of this style. Great body that is perfectly hopped. FastEddie (178), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Jun 30, 2009 Pours a large, white head. Clear dark gold color. The flavor has a vague sweetness to it, but well balanced with the hops. A pretty pleasing blonde ale. DeanF (72), Paris, France Jun 30, 2009 Looks great in a chalice, aromas are citrusy and hoppy. Tastes great, nice sweetness, nice bitter finish. Listigovers (40), Ontario, Canada Jun 27, 2009 Great for a beer that you can get in a large variety of places with its own unique taste. I feel bad, because even though the taste is unique and it’s a taste which I admire, I have had many better beers. DigitalMan (82), Idaho, USA Jun 25, 2009 Very pale yellow. Decent head. Aroma is not exactly inviting, but it’s OK. Spicy flavor is alright, but the dry mouthfeel pulled all the moisture from my mouth. Gnar. Appearance: Pours a crystal clear, gold body with a smallish, fizzy, white head.
Smell: It’s a sweet-scented, nigh sugary nose with notes of lightly grainy pilsner malts, fruits brushed with clover honey, spice, soft florals, and alcohol.
Taste: Sweet maltiness blended with some grainy pilsner malts and sprinkled with crushed honey candies. Drying, warming alcohol enters fairly early in the taste. Slight white peach fruitiness. Subtle clove spiciness and even subtler banana taste. Subdued hop flavor with no more than enough bitterness to make itself known. Regardless of the alcohol and, albeit low, hop character, reemerging candied sweetness pops in here and there. Finishes semi-dry.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation.
Drinkability: While perusing the label for any possible dating, I caught some light through the bottom of the bottle and noticed just how downright clean the inside of the bottle looked. Sure enough, it’s been filtered to a high degree and seems to have lost more than it’s gained. Overall, it’s a passable, acceptable, widely available Belgian blonde, though I dare say there’re better blondes to be had out there.
