"Leffe Blond is a pale abbey beer, with a full, sunny, golden colour. It has a smooth and full bodied taste and a rich creamy head. Like all the Leffe beers, it is a ’connoisseur’ beer that is easy to drink."

Pours a pale hazy gold with a thin lacy ivory head. Smells of citrus (grapefruit?) and fruity yeast. Lightly spicy aromas, like black pepper. Your first impression of the taste is sweet, sweet, sweet. And not malty sweet, like sugary sweet. I don’t know if they use lots of cane sugar in the brewing process but whatever it is, it is overdone. For the first time in any of my reviews I will use the adjective "cloying" to describe it. Once the wave of sweetness passes you get some grapefruity citrus and the peppery spice, some rounded alcohol flavors and hints of honey. This is a bold tasting beer, it definitely asserts itself on your palette and is sticky in the finish. Problem is it’s way too sweet and not nearly complex enough to pull it off. I seem to remember having better impressions of the bruin in the past but I’ll take a miss on the blonde next time.

On tap…Dark golden yellow color, sweet malty flavor, very smooth crisp taste and extremely drinkable. Excellent mouth feel… Thick head remains thought the drink, medium lacing… hoppy sweet fruit aroma. Overall an excellent beer.

Warm golden blond beer with fluffy off white head. Soft malty aroma, touch of flowers and sweet cakes. taste is smooth, has some mild malty sweetness and a strange bittery accent. Also some toches of abrcoos.

Characteristc Belgian aroma of leather saddles and varnish. Poured with a good frothy head; looks a picture. Faint lacing. Delightful crisp sweet and spicy taste with malt, and pleasingly dry finish.

UPDATED: MAR 23, 2006 Pours light golden with a thin sticky head with big bubles. Aroma is initially quite delicious with a bouquet of fruity esters with notes of bubble gum, banana, melons. Beyond this initial fury of fruit delight lies a slightly bready toasted note and a slightly metallic hoppy note. Taste is sweet with fruity esters and notes of honey, toasted grains, bubble gum, and banana. Mouthfeel is and medium bodied and sticky with dense foamy carbonation. One of my first favorite beers, but knowledge of greater things has made this beer seem somewhat simple. Still an enjoyable beer.

UPDATED: MAY 9, 2005 A lot better then a majority of the American brewed beers, at least the popular ones. But compared to other Belgians this one doesn’t stand up as well. A lighter pale abbey but still has lots of spices.

Tasted 30/04/2005. 330ml bottle from Woolworths, Kilbirnie. Big rocky head ballons out of this lovely looking opaque golden beer. Great yeast dominated aroma with hints of yoghurt, spices and tropical fruit. Nice crisp, yet sweet, malt flavour with stonefruit and citrus hints, has a good spicey bitter balance through the middle and back. Clean palate when cold and becomes slightly fruity and cream as it warms. Great drinking.

UPDATED: JAN 8, 2006 (Bottle 33 cl) The blond Leffe is far from the best Leffe. Pretty nice, huge head and a beautiful golden colour. But no real characteristica to put this above the average blond ale. 060493

Bottle. Best before date: 12/04/06. Bright gold pour with a huge and fluffy off-white head. Chunks of lacing. Aroma is crisp, tangy, citrusy, yeasty and spicy. Flowery. Hints of bananas too. Light and crisp tasting. Very refreshing. Citrusy and spicy. Sweet yet tangy. Very poundable.
