3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
330mL bottle from LCBO. Pours gold with a rocky white head with decent staying power and lace. Aroma is mild, malt and bananas. Taste is malty and moderately spicy, with a touch of bitter in the finish, and a slightly sweet finish. I like the level of carbonation, it leaves a tingle on the tongue, but is not over the top, overall mouthfeel is creamy. 6.6% alcohol, but leaves me without a buzz. Overall, I prefer this over Leffe Brown by a fair bit.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
This beer is clearly overated. I was really really disapointed by this beer. The aroma is doubtful, the appearance is normal (nothing special about it), the taste is just fine with spicy and wheat. With all the expectation I had from this beer, I can say that it is an average beer.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Beautiful gold to copper color with a white frothy head that last well and leaves a good lacing. Its aroma is fruity with nougat, caramel and vanilla touches besides of a noticeable alcohol presence. The flavor is of course sweet with spìcy hints and a soft aftertaste. Its body is light and soft carbonated and tends to be a little watery but nice.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAR 5, 2006 Golden ale. Big head and sticky laceing. This beer has a wonderful balance of malt and hops. Pleasent fruity esters, vanilla, and slightly citric. thick. A bit sweet and sticky. This is refreshing and very easy to drink. I should stock this more often.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A light, orangey amber coloured beer with a weak, frothy white head. The nose is sweet and a bit spicy, distinctly of that of cloves. There is also a hint of lemony citrus fruit. The flavour is again sweet, the spicy clove of the aroma is present, there is also a maltiness towards the end. The finish has a slight smokiness to it alongside the sweetness. Bottle, purchased from Larners of Holt, Norfolk, on special offer!

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at Everybody’s pizza. Served in proper glass and all. Nice! Anyways, the beer wasn’t anything to write home about. Cloudy golden color. Yeasty, creamy taste. Citrusy aromas and flavors. Would be better in the summer. Drinkable and enjoyable just not exciting.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Yellow beer with a good white head that keeps bubbling for a while. Malty aroma with clear wheat notes of banana and spices and even roses too. Sweet, but with some bitterness after a while. Somewhat thin mouthfeel.

UPDATED: SEP 27, 2006 (Update 22/08/06)
Wow! I had this again last night in my brand new Leffe glass. It was better than I remembered with the aroma much more intense: besides what I mention in my earlier tasting notes I found also some caramel, herbal notes and brandy hints. This is a really good belgian ale.
Original Rating (Feb 20, 2006):
Pours a clear golden and fizzy body with a big white frothy head that shows good retention and leaves a fine lacing. Well balanced malty aroma with fruity notes like, banana, ripe peaches, pears and hints of spices and vanilla with a slight alcoholic touch. Flavor is sweet and mild for the style, showing a high drinkability but giving not much for the palate. There is a soft alcoholic presence and the body is thin with a watery mouthfeel which leaves some aftertaste. Overall a light Belgian Ale, simple and effective. It gets better after a few sips. 8/3/7/3/13 Scoring 3.4

UPDATED: APR 17, 2014 Draught at La Bodega in Reims. Blonde pour. Frothy head and fruity. Good but served too cold. Somewhat disappointed. [2006.02.19: .31]
Many years have passed, but I return. This bottle at home, best before end 15/09/14. Nose is sweet and estery, lots of lemon in with lighter vanilla, banana, heavy fruity yeast overtones; I’m expecting it will be rather sweet. Pours clear, deep golden with a large soapy beige head. Taste is indeed very sweet, but not cloying, and the swell soon passes; thinnish body but not watery, a rush of great yeast character, sweet jammy and overripe fruit followed by cleansing banana-lemon esters and slightly-hot cloves. Just enough carbonation to refresh, just enough sunshine to embolden. Superb and readily available gateway beer. [2014.04.17: 3.3]
