Golden blonde pour with a thick white head. Aroma of yeast and sugar. Taste of malt and faint vanilla. Great finish. Fantastic session brew.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
33cl - BB 04/09/08 - Aroma is subtle yeast, bubblegum and rock candy. Pours transparent gold with a medium head and great lacing. Flavor is mild malts, yeast and some grassy hops. Everything is so gentle and uninspiring it makes me want to drink it fast and move on. Palate is clean with a little rust left behind. Non-offensive, just boring.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hazlenut and vanilla aroma, deep golden hue, medium mouthfeel, distinct vanilla and hops, sweet with some bitterness, finishes with a tartness. A great mass produced beer that got me started on better beers.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
One of the first Abbey ales I tried. I still think itís quite nice. The sweetness is not overwhelming and is pretty well balanced. There is a faint chemicalliness to this which Iím not too keen on and I think itís a bit too bland for the style. Still good though.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: OCT 13, 2008 33cl bottle from systembolaget. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dies in a couple minutes. Aroma is not very strong with bubblegum, cottom candy, and dough showing through. The flavor is way to much malt, with not enough hop. The sweetness shows in a very exagerated fashion, and becomes overwhelming. Too much sugar left in. A little dryer, and we would have a solid beer. (2.6)
Rerate: One that I’ve been wanting to revisit lately because it was such an early rating, and I felt that my palate ad evolved substantially. Pours a clear gold with a thick head. Lots of bubble-gum and sweet malt in the aroma. Sweet and bubble-gum like with some banana and spicy yeast bite. More drinkable than I remember. Still a bit sweet an uninteresting, but a decent, drinkable Belgian blonde.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
I have had this a few times, but my most recent sample was much better than the others. I was happy to find some pretty interesting peach notes in my last tasting, and found the beer to be a bit lighter and cleaner than in earlier tastings. Not bad at all.

This would make a nice table beer if it wasnít too expensive, a nice daily drinker. But Duvel is a little cheaper and this is no better than that.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Golden pale appearance, smooth and complete heavy yeasty taste, with long aftertaste. I had this with bbq burgers and steaks, brings out flavors even more. Easy to put a few of these away in 33cl bottles around here but can get you on your way quickly with higher alcohol content.

Really the great beer...real beer. Deep golden colored with rich white head, offers special flavor, perfect combination of bitter and sweet, just what you would expect of a beer with almost full taste. Alcohol is quite felt despite its relatively low percentage.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
330 mL bottle from LCBO, served cold in a tulip glass.
App.: Clear golden with a nice white foam.
Aroma: A good dose of yeast and dough, some honey and flowers, light esters of bubblegum and banana; an odd funk(?) as it warms.
Palate: Medium body, soft yet effervescent carbonation.
Flav.: Light yeast and dough, light honey, definite cardboard; a little spice and light banana esters; soft finish.
This stuff is everywhere, so how the hell did I get an oxidized bottle?? I might re-rate.
